Today I will be setting up my DIY pod that I have been working on the past few day's. Since I'm going to have a much better set up now I decided to do some hardware upgrades.

I am currently using the DFGT with the pedals that comes with it.

Scenario 1: Clubsport pedals with a SST shifter and keeping the DFGT as my wheel for the time being. This configuration will work fine on my PC but when I use GT5 I will have to go back to the standard DFGT setup. Also I was thinking by going this route it will leave my options open for a wheel upgrade in the future. Like a ECCI Trackstar 7000, GT2 Porsche wheel or the new thrustmaster once things are sorted out with defective wheels that I'm reading about.

Scenario 2: Clubsport pedals with fanatec shifter set and the GT3 RS V2 wheel. Pretty much the hole fanatec setup but I'm scared to death to order all that stuff from them! lol.. the shifter set isn't even available yet in the US. I'll take my chances with the clubsport pedals only because I've been reading a lot about how happy people are with them.

Scenario 3: G27 with Nixim Brake mod and a chilicoke custom wheel adapter so I can put a real wheel on it. Although I don't know how much this will affect the FF and what not. The perfect pedal mod is to much at 250.00 so the nixim looks like the most economical. Also on Amazon they have the G27 for 300.00 but then it says "usually ships in 1 to 3 months" :indiff:

Anyway guy's thanks for any input as I try and make up my mind today 💡

If you play GT5, options 2 or 3 are the best.

I don't know if you've used the G27, but I don't think the brake pedal needs any mods, , unless you just like a rock hard brake pedal, it has a nice firm feeling already. And you can go through Logitech.com, use a 20% coupon code (you can get them off the net or buy any cheap Logitech product, like a mouse or something, register it, and do the survey they send) and get the whole setup for under $300 shipped.

The Fanatec gear is pretty damn cool, but you have to deal with the Fanatec experience... good and bad... great feel, great adjustability, bad shifters, bad mounting, slow customer service...

SO I say... Fanatec GT3RSv2 and CSP with the SST shifter and a later addition of a Clubsport shifter (upon release) for GT5. I'll vote for 3 tho.

Voted #3 for this reason and also just got one last week myself. I thought too I would want the brake mod but after using the unit the brake is more then adequate.

Also you have to consider customer service and replacement issues down the line god forbid there are any.

I hear ya there! Problem with the G27 right now is Logitech is out of stock and Amazon has it for 300.00 but it says that it wouldn't ship for 1 to 3 months! That sucks!

This is tough!

Here's my plan I'm thinking...

I just recieved a 20% coupon from Logitech for registering a mouse I bought a while back. I'm going to go ahead and order the CSP from fanatec (Wish me luck) then when the G27 is available again on Logitechs website I'll order it with my coupon.

I'll make do with the logitech shifter till more money for my hobby is available and with the G27 setup running GT5 won't be a problem with the logitech pedals.

I just really like the idea of being able to mod the wheel to a real size wheel and the G27/25 is so popular that people are coming out with all sorts of ideas to improve the setup. Just more to tinker around with and make my setup unique to my liking!

Well after much despair and impatience I went with the CS pedals, GT3 wheel and a SST Shifter.

Reasons being, I originally loved the idea of putting a reall 330mm/350mm MOMO wheel on the G27. But a couple factors came to mind.

First, I have already purchased the CS pedals and SST shifter so spending another $300.00 on the G27 was gonna be a stretch.

Second, after adding up the cost of the chilicoke adapter $40.00/ MOMO wheel $150.00 range and G27 I was looking at approximately $500.00 on top of the $400.00 I have already spent. Adding this all up I was starting to think twice.

Third was availability. Funny enough the GT3 is more readily available then the G27 right now unless I wanted to pay more money for it on ebay or something.

The idea of the GT3 working with the CS pedals with the brake vibration got me to. Also the belt driven FFB is something different for me since I have been using the DFGT for the past year and a half now and am really curious to how that will feel.

My primary goal is to simulate a real driving experience as close as possible and not go broke while doing it! lol..

Fanatec when there products are working well, I have read countless posts about how happy people are with them and have wanted one since the first time I laid my eye's on one.

So now comes the fun part! (Yeah right) Waiting to see if the hardware functions properly and if something does go wrong dealing with there costumer service which I have read is awful.

Thanks to everyone who voted! This was a hard decision but money talks and... well you know the rest..
