does anyone recommend that I use the Dual Shock instead of a Racing Wheel? and is there anyone out there that finished a 24 hour race by themselves? I don't think I want to leave my play station on 4 days in a row.

Don't use the DS3 bro. I played for like an hour with it and i got blisters on 3 of my fingers. Leaving the ps3 on for 4 days is easily done, just keep it in a cool, or even normal temperature room and you'll be fine, Sony have actually thought of this while designing the PS3. If you are worried though, buy an external fan, some inexpensive ones available second hand online.

I did the Indy 500 in A-Spec yesterday, just under 2 hrs 30, with the Six-axis controller. Somewhat tedious but the prize car is worth the effort :)

Wouldnt recommend doing anymore than that with a pad though. It doesn't give you blisters (unless your hands are made of paper...) but it will start to feel a bit uncomfortable after a while.

Blisters ! You are a bunch of wimps.

I did the 4hr Tsukuba in one hit, and then decided no longer until there is a save option, it was just sooooo tedious.

BTW; I think many here have left their PS3 on continuously for a lot longer than 4 days getting through the bspec enduros.

I did both 24 hour endurances in GT4 A-Spec, and I plan to go both again in GT5 when I unlock them. IIRC, I did them both in four 6 hour runs, with breaks in between.

It was a lot of fun :D

The only one I have done in a-spec is the Indy 500 and I have also decided no more unless there is a save option. This also goes for the FGT championship. I left my console on for 7 days grinding through b-spec enduros and my console was fine (Slim btw).

Do you think they will patch it so there's a save option? I won't be doing the endurance races otherwise. I could sit and do a couple of hours max but 24 hrs? No chance lol

So how do people do the 24 hour races in A spec ? Do you sit for 24 hours straight with short breaks :boggled: or leave the ps3 on pause over night for a few days ?

I've done the first endurance race twice and the Indy 500 once using a wheel. Worked fine. My right arm got a little tired on Indy, just pushing up for the constant left turns, but a few cans of beer helped alleviate that. My most important recommendation is to turn on the music during the race. Those things get incredibly boring if you're just listening to your engine the whole time.

I've only done the first two endurance races. The first one wasn't bad at all. The second one was 4hrs of Tsukuba and I had to get up and walk around for awhile about every hour of racing, which happened to coincide with my pit stops. My neck/shoulders were in knots I guess because my posture is bad when I'm using the wheel (I need to kind of hunch over the wheel due to the way I've got it setup). I dread the thought of the 9hr race, and probably no chance I'll even attempt a 24hr race unless they add a save option.

The game seriously needs a save feature in both championships and endurances as I can't play the ps3 for more than a couple of hours a day as I don't have the time to play it more.

Yea, I'm probably not going to try them unless there is a save option. So far, all I completed was the Grand Valley enduro, and used my wheel to do it, and found myself sweating and even a bit sore afterwards. It was a fun experience, but I am not attempting the longer races as of now. I'll just play online for the time being since I have nothing left to do except try to win some gold medals in the Special Events.

How did you manage to get blisters? I can't even... lol i've been playing ps3 for 5 years now I can't imagine have that happen.

Actually, it's possible to get them easily with a Controller because you need to keep the buttons pressed constantly. I used to get them all the time, not bad ones, but bad enough where it would hurt to tie my shoes for example.

Maybe blisters on your thumbs?

I've got a permanent bruise in the middle of my left thumb, from the DS3 stick.

I did the Roadster 4 Hour yesterday, no blisters, but the knucles on my little fingers are stiff today, from griping the controller so tightly.

And I'd second the music suggestion.

Anyone else annoyed that there's two endurances races on the massively overrated Tsukuba circuit but no Rome two hour race which was in GT2 and GT3?

I'm annoyed by Tsukuba too, but I'm even more annoyed by the terrible new Rome track. So boring compared to the one in GT2 and GT3. It's not interesting enough to do an endurance race on IMO.

I dunno I like the old one but I think the new Rome is very decent especially the high speed downhill chicane followed by the high speed left hander. I'm not sure I'm even going to the Tsukuba ones it's just torture IMO!

How do you know that it's permanent for sure?

As for the knuckle stiffness thing, I had that as well, before I got a wheel.

I switched to using the DSC for the INDY 500 , I was finding the metal pedal on the G25 wheel set, was really starting to cut into my foot even with shoes on after a while.

i just finished the 4 hours Endurance race using only the DS3 and my fingers where fine

PD really need to add the save feature, perhaps give a gold trophy for completing a 24 hour with out the feature of something to keep the hardcore fans happy, there's no way I'm doing anything more than 4hrs without the save feature.

The thing is I swear the option was mentioned before in some event? And also the fact Kazunori thought the idea of actually completing a 24 hour enduro in GT5 as laughable...

Call up some of your real life friends that're in to the game also and make a party out of it.

Why do you need to keep buttons pressed constantly? Don't you use the analog sticks?

I've driven all the enduros up to and including Suzuka 1000km. I drove the Suzuka in the rain and it took almost 7 hours. I use the DS3 and have had no problems with blisters or anything.

I just did the first one at Grand Valley today. I was a bit overpowered in the Lexus Concept race car I used to win the German Touring Car Championship. Used a DGFT wheel and discovered my current setup needs to be modified because my leg was killing me about lap 30.

Did it in 2:07, my fastest laps were at the end once I had some idea about tire wear. I ended up leading by 4 laps probably could have lead by more had I pushed instead of cruising and saving my tires.

This..

its a driving simulator, in real life you wouldnt be able to do half an enduro then go 'oh, im too tired, can everyone just pause?'

as mike said, for gt4 24hr nurburgring i got three mates that were into the game over to my house and we took it in 2 hr turns all night.. i just shouted them pizza the next day for lunch and then we had a bottle of cheap champagne when we crossed the line in first place that afternoon..

best 24hr event ever..
