ABS 0 in SPEC 2

Anyone noticed a difference in Spec 2 regarding the ABS 0?

For some reason, I seem to be able to actually drive cars using ABS 0 since the update...is it truly different or have I just become a better driver:sly:

For example, I couldn't possibly drive the SLS AMG without ABS on 1, now I actually can, and pretty good also?

On a side note, anyone tried the Jaguar XJ13 with ABS 0 on the ring? Now I finally start to realize what GT has that other games just don't. The sheer joy of just driving the thing...priceless!!!

Anyone else noticed this?
 
I always put ABS at 0 for cars that never had any ABS, that enhances the "simulation". Driving a 40's VW with ABS is kind of dumb. And rest assure that I put ABS at 0 in all TVR. I wish it would save the ABS setting or remove it by default for cars that should not have it.
 
I've been driving with ABS set to 0 for some time and I'm not sure there is anything different after the update.
I do know however, when you first startup GT5 you have to depress the brake peddle all the way down atleast once so it can calibrate before you can use it normally, otherwise it feels overly sensitive.

Stupidly enough it truly helps, I've now got all the different types of competition balls next to my pedals, from soft to hard and everything in between. Talk about some truly professional tuning:sly:
 
I already drove with ABS set to 0 before Spec II (ABS 1 was my usual in GT5P though). And I can confirm, it definitely got easier now.

I guess 0 = 0,5 in this Spec of the game.
 
I went to ABS 0 before the update too, and it has added some new life to the cars. I don't think it's a matter of ABS 0.5 now. I agree with amar212 that the suspension and chassis physics seem more refined, tire modeling seems more refined, so now cars behave even more as you'd expect them to. I spent all last night racing round Indy Infield just doing time trials, and it feels even more like the TT demo we got early last year.
 
I've been driving with abs 0 from the start and haven't noticed a difference.

Squashball trick, very clever. Everyone can stop using ABS if they just have some resistance in their pedals. If you're just moving plastic plates around it's really hard to regulate how much you should brake, but the higher the resistance the harder you have to push and easier it is to pump the brake over the limit of grip and then back again.
 
All I think they did was make neutral brake balance - brake more at front (like IRL) because I seem to have to change the brake balance of all my cars now
 
I never use any ABS on cars. I have only noticed a slight increase in traction to be honest, while braking straight anyway. The slide when turning and braking, although I try to avoid doing it, is easier to catch now for some reason.

They "lock", but after a certain amount of input. Now its a joy to drive without ABS :D
 
What's the correct technique for using no ABS?

Is it tapping the brake quickly or slamming the brake down then easing off as you slow down or adding more and more brake pressure the longer you brake or is it something totally different?

Its always been a joy to drive without ABS - you just has to mess a bit with brake balance and pressure... now the cars seem more balanced with stock settings

I truly enjoy the no abs thing. Makes the driving that much more exciting, and I'm not even talking about the sweaty palms you get when actually locking your brakes up and seeing the walls at Monaco coming straight at you:nervous:

I did this and it works pretty good :)
 
If you turn ABS off just turn down the brake pressure so the wheels won't lock up easily.
 
I regularly drive with the ABS off (of course, after setting a proper brake distribution) and I haven't found any real difference there.
 
There is a difference, brakes don't lock up as quickly, especially on race cars. Using 5:3 now on LMPs for example, works like a charm.

Depends on corner... if you need to slow down a lot, and fast then you should brake hard enough to just lock the wheels then ease slightly. This is actually a real racing technique =)


to the OP: Yeah, I did use the XJ13 with ABS 0 and G27 on the ring, I always have done that, and it's beautiful!
 
The refined suspension and tire physics makes it better to drive without ABS now. Even driving online is now as close to offline as it's ever been. Driving the Schulze GTR on S3 is a breeze without ABS. Brakes no longer lock up without warning so it's easy to avoid getting lock up.
