Also known as the AC 428 Coupe and AC 428 Frua, 49 of these beautiful coupe's were made between 1965 and 1973. The chassis and suspension were based on the 427 Cobra but lengthened by 6 inches. The body was by Frua of Italy and the motor was a 345 bhp 428 cubic inch Ford. A few of the early cars were fitted with the more powerful Ford 427 engine from the Cobra and a lot of 427 Cobra's were actually fitted with the tamer 428 lump - I expect it depended on what Ford had available and what AC and Shelby American were trying to use up at the time.

There was also an even more beautiful AC 428 Convertible. Thread and link to be added.

A sublime car! Difficult to believe that AC also built the three wheeled Invacar which was a death trap on wheels. People didn't own them - they were provided to disabled people and a deduction made from their weekly disabled living allowance. They were made up until 1977 and in 2003 as a result of new EU legislation the UK Ministry of Health fleet of these cars was crushed. This short video clip might bring back a few memories for people of one of AC's products which didn't live up to the high standards set by the Ace, Cobra or 428 Frua.

Thanks for that - I had forgotten those dreadful three wheeler invalid carriages - they must have been truly terrifying to drive at their top speed of 82mph!
