From the moment I saw Special Stage Route X was a confirmed track in GT6, I was absolutely certain that the speed test/ranking feature would carry over with it. Now after seeing that it's been left out at launch yet again, I can’t help feeling like it's a totally unacceptable omission that leaves the game feeling incomplete, even with the over 1200 cars and 100 track layouts.
I’ve always just assumed a 0-100km/h run, quarter mile time and top speed measurement to be something car enthusiasts held dear and something that was a very special part of the whole driving experience/simulation in Gran Turismo.
In a game franchise so passionate and dedicated to measured car performance and realism, I can't see any logical reason why Polyphony Digital has been treating this simple, necessary feature as such an after thought the past few years.
I was so put out back when I had to wait so long in GT5 for it to arrive. It's been a part of Gran Turismo's history for so long, dating back to the good old days of the PS One with GT1 and GT2.
But I cut them some slack with not seeing it in the first half of GT5’s life, with the understanding that they hadn’t built the Special Stage Route X Test Course yet. But SS Route X is in GT6 and was built for performance testing, so there is really no excuse for this simple thing to not be a day one feature in the game.
Who knows how long we will have to wait for it to arrive now, and if it will end up being a paid DLC months down the road yet again.
