I've looked around and can't seem to find any 'set in stone' rules, so just wondering what the most accepted size is for displaying images here on the boards?

I've started a gallery, hosted from flickr, and most of my images are displayed here in 1024 x 576...

Jordan has recently introduced an auto-resizing script. Whatever you post will be scaled down in size to something to fit the forums without losing detail. More can be read here, though if you are going to post particularly large images, I'd suggest you do let people know of the full size of the image beforehand.

The auto-resizing doesn't actually make a smaller file size though, so loading up a post with large images and letting the board software deal with it will still slow the downloading down for anybody not on a fast connection. That's why many of us use smaller resized images linking to full-sizers (and why they're required in the competitions) :)

Okay fair enough too. I might keep that larger size for my gallery, and drop down to 640 x 360 for any posting in other threads.
It does make sense to be a bit smaller for slower connections.
