as the topic states, as anyone been a victim of that?

today i was on my 20th lap on the first endurance race and i paused the game and when i returned i pressed x and restarted the race. lol?

couldn't they atleast put an option, are you sure you would like to restart?

the other problem is also that when you exit the race it is automatically on YES. wtf? don't get me wrong, it's my fault, but still. has anyone been a victim of this?

This happend to me !!!

I was in the last turn, of the last lap of the Grand Valley 60 laps and restarted the game....

couldn't they atleast put an option, are you sure you would like to restart?

100% 👍

I've done something similar. I started Cape Ring on GT World Championship cuz it was silver and I wanted to gold it...turns out I forgot I was in a 190hp Lotus Elise at the time. Doesn't quite compare to 60 laps wasted, but annoying nonetheless.

Sure is bad, funny though when buying upgrades you need to click a gazillion times...

yeah, like carnal said^^
it asks if were sure to use a car ticket
it asks to sign in to psn 3 times, just by going from the XMB to your GT Life home.

this happened to me with 5minutes left on nurburgring 4hour, a spec.
:(

Im glad its like that. Makes it so you dont have so many stupid menus to click through. I hate upgrading my car too like why cant we just have a checklist that we check off and at the end purchase all at once instead of purchasing one thing at a time. :(

I've restarted the Suzaka 1000Km race. Twice. Once on lap 96 and once on lap 80. I was in a right turn both times when I paused it, so when I went to resume I naturally went to turn as I pressed X (DS3). It selected "restart" then pressed I pressed X sweep through the turn.

Oh well, my third try went fast from all the practice.

Press the circle button or the start button when unpausing. I learned the hard way as well.

Hasn't happened to me yet in GT5, but it happened to me a lot during endurance races in the past games, especially GT2, where it was all to easy to accidentally hit "exit".

I've never had a problem with this? :S Check before you press the button ... That's why there is a slight pause after un-pausing the game, that gives you time to re-adjust back to the game and get ready quick for the driving. I think it is better to just pause on the straights (makes more sense to me aswell).

Moral of the story - Just take your time when continuing a race :)

also hapend to me on first endurance paused at 40 laps after driving for an hr totally put me of all endurance races for me now suposed i better save for test drive

I haven't actually tried this yet, but you could re-map the controller to disable the pause button, or re-map that button to a keyboard. I'm also a last-lap Grand Valley 300km restart victim and plan on using this trick in my next endurance.

I think I have the worst one here. I was on lap 150 of of like 170 for the suzuka 1000 endurance. Actually when this happened I officially stopped playing the game. Just realized I had wasted 4 hours of my life playing that and if I kept doing endurances it would only get worse...

I did this 2 and a half hours into the 4 hour roadster endurance race on a-spec, i paused the game and then went to continue but as i did i was on the start line!! I was soo P****D off but hasn't happend since, how simple would it be for PD to put a simple (are you sure you want to restart?) EASY...

I've seen this posted several times before, so I checked.

When I pause during a race, then push X, it simply continues the race.

After pausing, the cursor is on the 3 dots, NOT restart. Therefore, I am confused as to how this is happening.

Accidentally hitting
on the sticks or d-pad, then pressing start.

This thing that pisses me off about this is the fact that they make you say 'Yes' five times to buy and install a car part. Yes twice to buy a car and get in, but is soooo easy to take yourself out of a 24 hour race. It is indiotic that they do not give you one more prompt. 'Are you sure you want to exit the race?'

I am not asking for five questions to get out. That is as irritating as the five quesitons to buy a part. But ONE question should be asked before making you lose all that time. I have a dog with a surgury that needs taken care of, a three and five year old, and school work. Do not have 24 hours of undivided attention to commit to something where I can lose everything with a minute left to go because of other distractions in the house.

This is the biggest update change they need to make. Would love more premium cars, more aviailable for RMs, and mostly more tracks. But first and foremost, they need to correct this huge flaw. I remember you have to say yes three or four times to get out of a race in GT4. And they made it so it asks you if you leave a race series, but give you no warning if you exit a regular race (which the endurances are seen as one). I would be happy if they only made tis option apply to the endurance races (like it now only applies tot he series races).

Another flaw is so many 'Race series' that have one race in them. If I am pursuing a series cup---I want a series.

I learnt the hard way exiting the grand valley 300 after 30 or so laps. Started userng the start button after that.

That's an overly complicated way to do it when you could:

Press the circle button or the start button when unpausing. I learned the hard way as well.

happens to me on the endurance 4hrs miata race ... the time was 2:36.xx HOURS .... :(

I see this posted all the time. Tons of thread on it yet I'm confused how/why it happens. Why is everyone in such a hurry to unpause the game when it takes a second to check to make sure the cursor is on continue? Plus there is 2 other buttons which unpause it no matter where the cursor is (Start & O).

I look it at this way if a confirmation was added to the restart button. Think of all those licenses and special events that you failed and quickly restarted. I'd rather have some self control and a quicker interface.

aaaarggghhhh, can i add my vote for an "Are you sure, you've nearly finished the race. why would you want to restart now you idiot?" menu to appear before it restarts.

I have now done 108 laps of the 60 lap race on grand valley, with 60 laps yet to complete.... (yes, ive done it twice on that race now, the second time with 3 corners to go on the last lap...)

PS - think i'll try to teach myself to restart with the start button after pause from now on, thanks for the tip.

LMAO! I saw this, and had to share my story!

I was running the Laguna Seca Endurance race... ran 75 of the 90 laps, and stopped... when I came back, I started the race, and had to quickly pause because I had to check my phone (literally 5 seconds), I must have hit the joystick, because when I restarted, it re-started my race. :(

So, I started the race again, but had to be someplace. I ran 30 laps, and paused it. Came home, ran 30 more laps, and headed to bed... when I woke up, it had called for an update. Well, I always opt out of the update (my system wont seem to take the updates, not sure why, but that is another post)... apparently, didn't opt out, so it shut off my race. :(

So... again, started the race, got 20 laps into it, and my wife wanted a kiss... paused the game, apparently did the same thing I did the first time... re-start... LMAO! DAMN! I had some bad luck!

Finally finished the 90 lap race, after doing 245 laps!!!

My game DOES pop up with a window asking if i want to restart if i push the restart button, so i dunno how this is happening either.
