Andrew, here's something you can and should be proud of every single day: when the chips were really down, you decided to see it through and keep going instead of quitting. That's an accomplishment worthy of note.
But, the only reason I stuck it through was because I suck at dying. I tried to give up, many times in fact, so I don't see how me still being here is anything special. Everyone goes through **** and because I am here still I don't see that as anything to be proud of.

Be proud of making people laugh. Theres only been 6 or 7 posts of yours that I've seen that I haven't laughed at. Or with.. Err. You know. 👍

I'm dumb.

Trying to give up and failing = succeeding.
👍
You're still here, you're still dealing with crap, and you're still plugging on. That's an accomplishment.

But that is nothing special at all.

Every single person in the world is dealing with crap. Plugging along is nothing special. Plugging along is a part of life, almost expected really.

Or am I wrong?

I wish Jpec was here now so that I could watch him piss and moan over this thread.

Anytime at all, Rumple.

You're both right and wrong. There are, sadly, people who commit suicide because they feel they cannot 'plug along' any longer. You haven't done that, and I hope you don't. In my book, thats enough to be proud of.

I'm proud of fixing my damned computer.. :D With a big book.

No, you're not wrong, but there's plugging along, and there's plugging along. You're overcoming a bad situation compounded from a variety of... handicaps? obstacles? that are physical, emotional, and historical in nature. So sometimes just plugging along is good. Besides, you're young yet, and I've seen people twice your age with one tenth of your access to temptation, who have not succeeded in "plugging along".

You'll figure out what you want to do, you'll apply yourself, and you'll do it. You've already figured out you don't want to die. Step two will come to you when inspiration strikes you.

The scary thing is that I allready know that I am going to be the guy who lives with his parents until he is 50. I do nothing for myself and have nothing that I can claim that I earned all on my own. It scares the life outta me to think that that's how I am going to turn out, but I can see it coming from a mile away.

I have no direction, no motivation, no clue as to what and where I want to go in life and by the time I figure it out it will be too little too late.

But I guess that's another topic for another thread.

I was proud for getting straights 5's on my SATS.

hm.. there are many small things im proud of.. but one of them is when i cured my fear of heights.. on a burma bridge 25 meters over the ground... *grins*

Things that I am proud of:

  • Overcoming my alchol addiction.
  • Quitting smoking cigarettes.
  • Starting to exercise and doing things good for my body.
  • Having a die hard/positive work ethic.
  • Being sucessful in my career.
  • Like Duke, I'm proud of my credit history, however I'm not that proud of the balances I carry. :(
  • This may not count, or may be selfish, but I'm proud of other peoples accomplishments that I have had direct influence on. Such as offering advice or training and sharing my knowledge so they may succede in life and career. So maybe in essence me being willing to help others succede and not trying to keep them down so I benefit.

I'm sure there are more, but I'm starting to draw a blank.
