I figured many of us racing sim enthusiasts may also enjoy flight simulations or simply flight games. I recently picked up Ace Combat 5 and I'm thinking of buying the Logitech Attack 3 joystick ($28 at Best Buy).

I searched GTP but could not find any threads regarding flight sim/game accessories. Would appreciate a recommendation on a good joystick, preferably one with force feedback.

Thanks!

I play Ace Combat Zero and 5 every day of my life, none stop... lmao favorite games ever!!! (sept COD4 now... lol)

I've never had a joystick for it though, Are you good?

I just started. Never played any of the Ace Combat titles before, but can see how it would be lots of fun. I can also see how a joystick, throttle controls and rudder pedals could make it even more fun. I noticed that "Saitek" makes all three, but not sure about user satisfaction.

Sorry for the bump. Hoping some of you could give me advise on buying flight controllers - joysticks, throttle controls, rudder pedals - for flight sims/games like Ace Combat 5. Which one's are good?

Thanks again 👍

In my opinion, Ace Combat and joysticks don't mix. Although Namco makes it realistic to the point of being believable, the game is still too fast-paced, too ridiculous, and too simplistic.

Then again, I'm the type of Ace Combat player that plays from the outside view, uses the triangle button's "view target" function liberally, and divebombs ground targets with selfless abandon. In Ace Combat 5, my best friend and I can often eliminate all of the targets before the radio dialogue even has a chance to finish (flying in empty skies while your buddies scream about getting shot at is a bit odd). My play style is too unrealistic to allow joystick usage, and when I tried using one, I just felt held back.

If you want to get a joystick, ERacer, Saiteks are great. If you get one that is compatible with both a PS2 and a PC, you can enjoy some true flight sims, too. I highly recommend X-Plane -- it isn't the prettiest, but it's more realistic than any Microsoft sim.
