This thread is just a place to discuss the Ace Combat Series.

Ace combat is one of the few games that i never get tired of. I dont know why, ive probably restarted each game at least 10 times each. Just something about wasting other fighters and pulling off crazy maneuvers which are probably impossible for the human body anyways. lol

I prefer to play Unsung War the most, i like Zero too, but not having 3 team members and the ability to choose their craft kinda bummed me out.

Im ready for Assault Horizon though, hopefully the developers didnt change it too much. It kinda sucks that they went with real world locations instead of sticking with their own mythology. I just dont want it to be like T.C.'s Hawx... as long as it feels like ace combat, i should be happy no matter what.

As of 7/21/11 at 4:44 in the morning, i have decided that instead of making a new thread, i will add a topic to this one. :D

Armored Core series. (abbreviate it as A/C )
I dont understand why its not very popular, other than just some people dont want to admit to liking giant fighting robots lol

I remember the first time i played it on ps2, it was A/C 3... and it was so freakn hard. Alot of it was because of all the numbers/stats. Pretty much everything that would be in a real mech is listed, if one did exist. It confused the crap out of me to say the least. The way i first played it was: Make a heavy Raven, put as many big weapons on it as possible, then... try not to fail.

Right now, A/C For Answer is my favorite (now we have, NEXTS)haven't played the other one for ps3 yet, but have played the rest of the series)) everything works as it should, the mechs look awesome and handle like a boosted mech should. Their formula has basically stayed the same for awhile, but since they added quick boost, it changed the combat a whole lot and made it way more fun.

Im ready for their newest installment, all that i know about it is that its supposedly going to have smaller mechs (like 5 meters tall instead of 10) built for an urban enviroment to perform missions in a more tactical manner (versus going in and shooting as many missiles as possible while firing a Gatling gun and a shotgun at the same time). So to me that means; stealth equipment, more variety of melee weapons, even faster movement, an actual story(? lol), more awesome shooting weapons, and more number/stats. (New shoulder mounted Static Rectifier Adds 1730 to your Optical Camouflage, 35 to PA Attenuation, 570 to Variable Control System, 150 to Vertical Mobility etc...)

I have not came across any other mech series as good as this one, its a good quality series and anyone who doesn't like it cant say its a bad one... just, "im not into that type of game".

I wish it had more support... more fans=money=more content=happiness :D

I gave up on Unsung War when I didn't get what I had to do on that mission where you had to protect some thing that was going to be launched, but then you were told to run away or something by flying straight up into space...

First off this thread is awesome and I didn't know that there was a new game coming out. Like the GT series I have few other series that I love Metal Gear Solid, Hitman, BattleField and Ace Combat rounding them out. Also AOS that mission wasn't so hard I believe you have to fly straight up to avoid a nuclear explosion...or straight down as low as possible. I completed the game several times a long time ago before selling it back to gamestop so my mind is a bit foggy on it.

Nothing beats the storyline of the Unsung war.
Many movies aren't as good as that.
This thread really makes me want my PS2 back. :(
Had to sell it to be able to afford the PS3.

I'll have to see what the new game looks like before I get it.
I most likely will though.
I jumped straight to AoC 5, so I had no idea what any of the locations are lol, so real world locations will be nice for me at least.

I had left the unsung war alone for awhile since I was stuck on a mission, then eventually dusted it off again and fell in love with it.
Alongside Battlefront II as my favorite PS2 game (never had the chance to play GT4 with a wheel ;))

Yeah that one through me for a loop too . You have to be above 5000 feet, sometimes the AWAC gives you a countdown.

The one that gave me the most trouble is the 8492 Mission. I kept dying, and dying... and dying. Its the one where they say they are escorting you but are actually going to try and kill you. You have a choice to run, but its funner to try and shoot them all haha (If you are going to shoot them all down, there is two 747's flying around issuing decoy locks.)

Between the two, Unsung War seems a bit harder than Zero.

I think the reason they used real world locations instead of their own, is because they are having some guy ive never heard of write the story, "Jim DeFelice". They say he is a new york times best seller, but i have a lolcat book that says the same thing...

Link to the official website.

The cool stuff is on this site:

Site(plenty of videos and screenshots, I really want to see capital conquest mode on the PS3)

Apart from that, I like AC04, Zero, AC3, and AC2 over AC5, the writing on that one is really silly, and the story was better in AC04 and AC3 JP with its five endings(but that's my opinion).

For me, Zero is the best thing that will ever exist until an HD remake is release by Namco, I cant stand the props that AC5 has over Zero because of its storyline, and I like the new direction, leaving the silliness from AC5 and AC6 and moving into more hardcore dramatic grounds settled by Zero and AC2.

I bought AC For Answer not too long ago and started it up. But since then it has been queued and other games have jumped the line :)

I intend to give it a go eventually though.
