(Hey there denizens of GTP, I posted this topic on GTAforums and got a little bit of interest, but really we're looking for fellow car nuts, so my buddy advised it would be better to look here, and I agree with him.)
Is anyone else bored of killing each other yet? Back on the PC version of GTA 4, my crew used to love gathering together in friendly-fire off lobbies and chasing down random folks in epic police chases. Obviously GTA 5 multiplayer is not set up in a way that is conducive to that kind of messing about, but still I wonder if anyone would be interested in it. I should mention that we're all car nuts, and we have no interest in shooting each other or whatever, just street racing, car shows and chasing one another.
Now we were pretty good at catching people back in GTA 4, and we had it down to a science. Anyone who's played NFS Most Wanted or any of the older NFS games will know how it goes down--police cars, helicopters, RHINO units for cutting racers off and roadblocks, etc. However I don't know whether it will work as well in GTA 5, since it has a new handling model and new net framework which might cause more lag or whatever. At the moment I only have one of my buddies on board who's willing to help me test it out, so what we're looking for is fellow car nuts to be our street racing opposition. If it works, then I'll get the whole crew back together and we might make it a weekly thing or something.
There's only a few rules I can think of at the moment, but we might change them up if they don't work. First is that the racers have to be in passive mode--we're not about crazy shootouts, it's all about driving skill. Second is that their cars have to be stock performance--regrettably the police cars are no longer modifiable with that glitch so we're stuck driving plain old LSPD caprice/taurus things, and we want to keep it competitive. Visual modifications are encouraged, though. Thirdly, in the same vein, we're looking for actual drivers who enjoy driving, so no chromed out Adders, Entities or Infernuses, etc etc. Exotics are obviously off-limits to keep things fair. If you want to give up, just get out of the car and do some gesture; salute, rock, jerk, the bird, etc. (Back in the day we had a whole schtick where we would take you back to the prison in lower Alderny, but screw it, the map's too big for that this time, lol. Just pretend you get a ticket or something). Obviously entering a garage, event or anything else mid-pursuit is also not allowed, but it's perfectly fine, even encouraged, to have impromptu races with your fellow street racers.
As for us cops, the rules are that we will chase you if you break the law in front of us, eg. speeding or whatever. Then, if a racer escapes the edge of our radar for about ten seconds, we've lost them and we break off pursuit.
It sounds ridiculously complicated now that I've written it out, but really we just want to have epic hollywood car chase fun. Like I said there's only two of us at the moment, so we only really want three racers in the lobby max, but I'll try and hook in some of the old guys if it works. If anyone thinks they can outrun us and wants a challenge, go ahead and leave your PSN tag and I'll add you (unfortunately we're not on xbox)!
