What would people think of the idea of when PD are back in operation, they could add a whole new series after Endurance races.

Something along the lines of 20 laps per race, but with SERIOUSLY tight restrictions. Like a 50PP margin the car has to fall into, set tires, set car type (e.g. NSX only races, so on and so forth).

That would be more difficult than endurance, and so would stick to the pattern the series follow, would give people extra content, and could even raise the levels to 50 to accommodate XP (which is pointless at the moment when you hit level 40).

Thoughts? (Also, post any good ideas for championships that would fall into this series).

I want more Special Events, I remember the driving missions in GT4...

The first seasonal events were much better perfect in this aspect, until a small group of people complained that it was too hard:irked:

It was much more enjoyable than now, I really hope PD get back to their senses.

Yeah I really don't get why people expect the entire game to be easy. Isn't that the point of a game? The start is childs play, then it gets harder and harder until only time, and LOTS of practice will allow a full 100%.

My idea: Update so we can RM the 2 Mustangs and the newer Challenger, have a race series between all the RM'd muscle cars. Only the RM mod would be allowed or something like that.

Which i fell short of in gt4(99%) the last mission, mclaren slr on nurburgring. In my opinion, i agree with you, they should just add a big update, which adds, heaps of new events to the game,(at least double the amount of events) including much sought after Rally events, and drift races. I mean, how hard is it, to just add tracks and cars a to championship, and "bobs your uncle" you don't need to make new cars or tracks....is it really that hard? I mean seasonal events are fine, but not enough.

You've really enjoyed the granturismo, haven't you?

That is the bit that gets me, it really can't be much work putting an event together. Isnt it just pick x number of tracks, x cars are allowed, toss on some PP and there you have it?

Any good ideas for heavily restricted events guys?

Sounds like PD could cover this with the Seasonal Bonus Races, and are doing a decent job. The problem with adding a new level of races in A-Spec is that it would be a rather hefty-sized update. We've already seen some rather minor updates that have been a couple hundred MB. People already love whining about the download times for those. The file size of this new level of events would be gigantic in comparison. Everyone who wants to use the new content will have to download it and keep it on their HDD. What if people don't have room for it on their HDD? Then we'll have a whole new set of whiners complaining about how big the update is and that they can't play it. Exactly what we need at GTP.

The beauty of the Seasonal events is that they are hosted on PD's servers and are not downloaded. You don't have to use HDD space in order to play. Since they are 'seasonal,' that also implies that they are temporary in nature. It's correct that 'putting together' an event probably isn't that hard. After all, PD is able to change the Seasonals every couple weeks just fine.

When it comes to the difficulty of the bonus races, read what the competition will be like(you are typically told the power or PP, and sometimes even tire type) and just limit yourself by tuning accordingly. If you are told to use a car up to 550PP, no one is forcing you to have exactly 550PP. Take some parts off of the car, add weight, reduce power, change the tires.

Making a new set of races permanently available though, basically turns it into DLC. That is another matter entirely.

Until the AI is made competitive, it's all kind of moot, isn't it? The only way the game offline is any kind of challenge is to give the AI almost half a lap head start, and make you fight through the pack to catch up. And even THAT has been nerfed by making contact not disqualify you like it used to.

I'm sorry, but I always got the impression that GT4 was a game for ADULTS (of all ages), and now strongly believe that GT5 is a game for kids.

I think that seasonal events with restrictions and licence consideration would be the solvent to all our problems. Have a 2 million cr prize with 200k XP but make the race seriously restricted with many laps. So a sprint series of GT racing cars or dream cars or whatever other series you can come up with. Restrict PP to about 10 either way and only two types of tyre compound allowed. And penalties like in GT5prologue where if you cut the corner slam into someone or crash into a wall automatic time penalty. Make it hard but worth the fight and don't give the one time reward stuff. I want to repeat them with the rewards.

I remember finding that mission one of the easier ones... I despised the CIEN one though.
However, the mentalist Skyline drafting thing i just COULD NOT DO!!! I think i spent over 10 hours trying to do that race alone. But I really enjoyed them, so Bringing them back would be so cool, i think.

I have an idea for a championship too: some sort of family car event, where you must have four doors at least, and weigh over 1700KG. That would make a fun challenge to win, but only if it focuses on the more challenging tracks like Madrid Full and Autumn Ring, both of which a very underused i think.
But I agree that Aspec mode in general is just not long enough for any but a few tracks NOT to end up very underrepresented and that, to me, is a REAL shame...

And the problem with seasonal events, You cant play them as and when you like, Whereas a-spec events you can play when you like, What about people who don't want to be online to do these races, This is GT not farmville

Again, when you start talking about PD adding A-Spec events, that automatically means DLC and quite a bit of it. There are pros and cons to each side. Seasonal races are probably the easiest way for PD to manage things at the moment.

I was expecting GT5 to have those. I was so crushed when I didn't see them.

Yep, I'm sure this group has already given up on the game and moved on to new less skilled racing titles. Time to give the game back to the regulars and bump up the difficulty.

A Le Mans series would be great. Something along the lines of Like The Wind but with 5 tracks instead of the 2 and about an hour per race each finishing with a Le Sarthe 2 hour. Only restrictions I would have is "No engine mods" and no FGT.

Simple solution to this is still have seasonal events with higher average payouts and an optional download to a-spec button, Its win win all round in my opinion

How about a reason for the X2010? A world championship series that holds F1 length races on every track (not every variation though) in GT5. The only exceptions could be the Top Gear test track and SSR7. Also if possible give some cars different tunes in so that the player can't dominate the races. Qualifying would be a welcome addition as well.
