Okay, this is a good one.

In the UK, there's been a series of adverts for the new shape Renault Megane, accentuating its "derriere". These ads have all featured people shaking their bottoms, to the tune of Groove Armada's "Shakin' that Ass"

The latest one features a whole load of people shaking about, then you see the car, then the music cuts in.

The advert was banned because "without the music, people shaking with worried looks on their faces could cause offence to people with Parkinson's Disease".

Go figure.

Hmmmmm, oooookkkkkkkaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy.

That advert annoys me anyway :D

It annoys just about everyone.

They stole that from Mitsubishi. That commericial ran around a year ago here in the states. But, there were people mostly dancing, with a few butt shots. However, the commericial went missing for a few weeks, then returned with the "ass" part in the song replaced without the letter s.

Can't anyone take a joke without getting offended anymore? I mean, look at Family Guy, this excellent show got cancelled because some Jewish people couldn't take a joke...

Although that commercial does sound annoying from the description, but that's not my point.

It's intensely irritating - made worse by the fact that they're accentuating the single worst design feature of the car.

 What's so special about the Megane anyway?:boggled:

We got that ad in australia... we had hot girls dancing but :D:D

That was a car ad? ;)

Yea.. surprisingly, you saw it too didnt you Blake? I liked that ad lol

Hmm.. I haven't seen the commercial but to me the banning sounds like a bigger insult to people with parkinsons disease than the commercial itself. ?

Hmm, it appears you can get ads banned for anything these days. I wonder if I can ban this vegetable/fruit shop ad we get over here for "Chronic Annoyance".

The first ad was much better. Loads of peaches!

I've just seen that ad on the TV. Are you sure this isn't a wind-up?

But it was the Brits that banned the commercial. :dopey:

It's been re-edited.

Originally the advert showed the guy on the diving board shaking about, looking worried. Then a few other people shaking about, looking worried. Then the music, then the lyrics, then the car.

It's been edited so that the music is audible from the beginning, and shots of the car are interspersed with shaking people.

The original complaints - all 5 of them - were that, without the music to make it clear the ad was a continuation of the Megane campaign, the concerned-looking shaking people could upset Parkinson's sufferers...

What happens when the " White people without rythem " complain ?

One of Mazda's commercials several years back was banned for showing speed.

Anyone see any of Chevy's latest commercials?
Like the one showing the transporter going sideways(even though that's impossible), or the Aveo spinning around, or the kids driving Corvettes?

Mitsu commercials have sucked for a while too, especially the Eclipse one with the girl having a seisure, erm...that's dancing?

That one reminded me of the Seinfeld where Elaine shows off her lousy dancing skills!

I still like the Movie adverts where they say at the bottom
"contains mild peril" -Wild Thornberys the movie, Finding Nemo
"annimated violence" -Brother Bear
"psychotic horror" - The village (ok probable deserves a warning, but something abit better).

The "drifting transporter" commercial wins my "most hated commercial" award.

Family guy is coming back.

People are offended so easily, you walk into a store and say hi to someone, and someone else gets offended, this happened to me. The offended guy said "Why didn't you say hi to me, is it because I'm fat or ugly?" My reply was "Well, actually I know the other guy I said hi to, and now I'm definitely not saying hi to you becaues you're crazy".

Can someone show a pic of the car in the commercial and prehaps a link to the commerical vid?

And this story keeps getting better... You won't believe this...

"A car advert featuring wiggling bottoms has been banned from daytime and early evening TV because young children have been copying it.

The ad for the Renault Megane showed various people gyrating in time to a tune which repeated the line "shakin' that ass".

It prompted 139 complaints from viewers upset that it was being screened when large numbers of children could see it.

Eleven viewers reported that their children, most aged between two and six, were copying the actions and language.

The ad, which featured the song I See You Baby by Groove Armada, was designed to emphasise the Megane's comfortable driving position.

But the Independent Television Commission said it had banned the advert from being shown before 7.30pm.

Its report concluded: "The ITC would not normally regard the use of the word 'ass' as problematic if kept away from children's programmes.

"In this instance, however, its continual repetition in the lyrics was combined with the appearance of the wiggling bottoms, which had sexual connotations for at least some viewers.

"In the ITC's view, it was therefore unsuitable at times when large numbers of children, including younger children, would be watching.""
