Advice on Time Trails

Ah, it is good to back on here, GT4 seems so long ago. I have completed C, B, A and most of S. All golds except the time trials which are mostly silver.

Are the time trials just a matter of getting in the place at the right time (ie finding traffic to draft) ? The EVO test at Eiger excepted it seems that this is essential for gold. I am turning all the aids off and eg I am still so far off the Cappuchino one, only a bronze so far. Cannot believe it...a bronze, feeling like a GT noob with that one :grumpy::)

the time trials all need to be done in standard mode it seems. Silver is the highest I can manage in professional and then in standard mode gold is attainable but sometimes with a bit of practice.
 
some of the time trials are a reaaalllll challenge in professional mode, even hitting the apexes perfectly and drafting as many of the other cars as possible it sometimes seems almost unattainable. With Arcade physics however, a few practice laps should do just fine. My best advice would be to try to avoid sliding the car around, and smooth throttle and brake inputs make a grand differance in lap times...good luck..

JPap & Havok, thanks. It is not just me then. 'with a bit of practise', I remember that phrase = very frustrating/damn hard :) I have only used standard mode, I am having problems with prof mode using the sixaxis at the moment.
 
I agree the time trials are by far the most difficult ones, at least with pro physics and all assists off, haven't tried with other settings (and frankly don't even want to, why water down what's near perfection :P). I've yet to manage silver in any of them, though the Cappuccino one and the M3 in Eiger are less than a second off. Practise, practise, practise...
 
I was wondering about this aswell. I was getting so worried as to how hard its going to be since i was struggling with the cappucino time trial and its only c-class. It took me so long, i used no aids and manual, and it was so releiving and satisfying when i did it. My time was 1'38.464 i was so pleased.

If you want some tips, slipstream as much as pssible, and on the first corner when your doing about 115mph dont break...at all...sounds like cheating but it is the only way, you have to hit the barrier slightly and youll be back on the road.

Would you like me to upoad a replay of my lap? I was very lucky, two cars were going soo slow on the straight so i slipstreamed them and got to 120mph!!!

:) oh I will do it, but I am a tad rusty and I hate the sixaxis.
