My G27 finally got delivered today, got it all set up, stoked to use it and then I found out I totally suck with it xD, just wondering, any tips as to how to get better with it? or is practice the key point here? At the moment I have TC on 5 and transmission automatic, just to try and get used to the wheel.

Less throttle. They buffer the gamepad throttle so that it isn't delivered all at once because there just isn't enough throw to the gamepad buttons to keep you from flooring it all the time.

They don't buffer the throttle input on a wheel because the throw is there to provide a precise input. So if you use it the way you would use a game pad's throttle, you end up spinning your tires all the time.

Liek Shape said you have to start learning to feather the throttle and the brake so that you don't spin your tires or lock them up when braking.

You should also focus on doing very, very smooth movements. Don't jerk the wheel around just like in a real car because this will get your weight shift around too much and you'll lose your flow.

And practice!

Spent a bit of time being smooth and following your advice, taken 30 seconds off my cape ring lap time, going well! I'm loving the wheel :D

Good deal! For me it was just time trialing different tracks, over and over, and tweaking my setup until it was how I wanted. Manual transmission ONLY, I alternate paddles and stick/clutch depending on the car/event. I started in my tuned Focus and moved up until I could handle my 800+HP Viper.

Great, just like in real life smooth movements are key! If you ever watch a professional driver it looks like they could be asleep the way they are so relaxed.

And remember it's not always the best idea to go as fast as you can at every time. Sometimes it's best to enter a corner with less speed so that you are smoother and can accelerate sooner out of the corner.

I recommend starting to use the manual gearbox right from the beginning, its best to get used to it early on. I sucked hard core with my wheel for about 2 weeks, now I cant even come close with the DS3 to hitting my fastest times with the wheel. Mostly it comes down to practice, once you are used to and can take advantage of the precision a wheel and pedal provides, you will start to see how much faster you can really be.
