Adware in Thread? (Strange Problem)...

I was browsing the forum as usual when I entered this topic. As soon as I entered the thread my AV popped up saying that there was adware on that page. The thread was labelled as "probably a variant of Win32/Adware.CWS application". The "probably" sounds a bit dubious, since NOD32 has a great reputation in the AV/PC community. One of the highest rated, 100% VB record etc. Anyway, obviously I terminated the connection to reject the page.

So, my question is this...has anyone else got a warning from their AV/monitoring utilities from that page, and if not, have any people got adware from viewing that page. To check this, clean out your PC of adware/spyware first (various utilities for this, I use SpywareBlaster, Spybot and Ad-Aware), then view the above page and re-scan your PC to check for new pieces of adware.

I don't know if it's actually possible to embed a piece of adware in a forum, I've never heard of it before anyway.

I've got AdAware, SpyBot, PopUp Stopper and AVG (know it's not an anti-adware thingy, but it's running a firewall, along with ZA)... and I've got nothing... maybe just a program bug due to the hyperlinked ads? Maybe it recognizes one of the redirects imbedded in the ads?

No, it's not an ad problem. Happened on several occasions (presumably with different ads)
 
That's why I dislike visiting this site.

Tribalfusion (one of the main advertisers) is known for its unwanted software. Every so often, I clear out EVERYTHING from the internet except for my bookmarks.
 
I have never had any problems with spyware from Jordan's site. Ever.

For all of you IE users switch to Firefox. That will solve your problems and then some for the most part.

And if you're that concerned with adware then stay off the internet. There is just about no way you can completely prevent any of it.
 
If you're a premium member you can disable ads. But that does suck! Hope you get it worked out.

amp88 and I are both Firefox users. Tribalfusion still comes through, no matter how many times you block the site with Firefox's internal blocker.

That said, I don't have the other problems he's talking about.
 
Well, I have to say that I think it's extremely unlikely that anything malicious would be coming from GTP. Jordan has shown great sensitivity in amending the ads that are coming to the site in response to user requests.

That said, Jordan's entitled to place ads on the site to try to recover some of his frightening hosting costs. If you don't like the ads, you're more than welcome to become a Premium member for the very reasonable price!
 
I haven'thad those problems but I am a Premium Member so I see no ads. Perhaps you should join? It is very reasonably priced. Besides, it is a small way to thank Jordan for building this great site.

This is a very strange issue. As Giles has already said, I have a very strict policy regarding the "types" of ads which I allow here. You should never be prompted to download or install any software at any time. There is always a chance that an ad network's security could be compromised, but otherwise I have done everything I can to ensure the ads are safe here.

That's why I dislike visiting this site.

Where did you hear that? Tribal Fusion is one of the most respected online advertising companies on the internet, not a piece of software.
