African Cup Of Nations 2015

So this is the thread for this years African Cup Of Nations tournament taking place in Equatorial Guinea, there were doubts about this tournament going ahead after original hosts Morocco pulled out due to the threat of Ebola in the region, it was only decided that Equatorial Guinea would host on November 14th, they previously hosted the tournament jointly with Gabon in 2012

The Format
Sixteen teams taking part with four groups of four and the top two qualify for the quarter finals then there's the semi finals, third/fourth place play off and of course the final

Group A

Equatorial Guinea
Burkina Faso
Gabon
Congo

Group B

Zambia
Tunisia
Cape Verde
DR Congo

Group C

Ghana
Algeria
South Africa
Senegal

Group D

Ivory Coast
Mali
Cameroon
Guinea

Group C is the strongest group there by far, Algeria are now the highest ranked African nation at 18 after their strong showing in last years World Cup, but its difficult to look past Ivory Coast for favourites for to win the tournament as they have the strongest looking squad on paper with Herve Renard in charge who won it last time in 2013 with Zambia...

Tournament starts with Equatorial Guinea v Gabon on Saturday and the final on the 8th February , check your local TV listings to see if anyone in your area is broadcasting it, in the UK its on ITV and British Eurosport..

For what its worth Ivory Coast won the competition after beating Ghana 9-8 on penalties...
