In the same line as my build your own thread, why not have the "wheel of misfortune" parts available as DLC?
Keep all the parts on a range between $1 & $5 dollars and we then get to pick where and when we do our upgrades.
Still keep the parts coming via the wheel for those that are not comfortable paying real money for fake parts. However, this should take care of both sides of the coin (pun intended) without anyone being angry about it.
