i just started playing gt5 like 4 days ago, and i found the aftermarket wheel selections kinda suck.

To anyone that's been playing long enough, do you guys know if pd will, or have updated this count as you level up ? i really hate the selections they have. gt4 pwns gt5 when it came to the wheels. I mean, they even threw in the Volk Racing brand, but my god they look like crap.

Some wheels are great, some are bad.
But since you can only put ones on a car I bet you'll choose well.
Also, some cars' stock wheels > aftermarket.

They change depending on the car you are trying to chuck them on. Some ave a rather limited selection while others have far more options.

Yeah sure you can...its not a one set of wheels per game sort of thing, its only some cars can fit certain wheels. Say...you cant fit some of the wheels you can put on a Maserati GT on a Copen, because of PD trying to be realistic about wheel sizes and lug nuts or something...

It's not even that though, there are definitely wheels in the game that I have for my car (in real life) that aren't available for my car in the game. It seems rather arbitrary.

Is there somewhere that you can see wheel stats? How can you compare them?

i wish they let us keep an inventory of the ones we already have, like they did in gt4.
and it's so stupid that you can fit motegi wheels on some expensive cars. no offense
but doing that is like wearing sneakers with a suit.

Speaking of wheels. Why do we need different color wheels in the selection, when we can paint them anyway?
Is it because on some if not most cars you would only have a choice of 3 wheels?

That's lame, in the gt auto section it's suggested that they affect performance. :grumpy:

I doubt it. Even the aero parts don't really do anything for your car.
but then again i haven't tried installing the spoilers yet. they're butt
ugly.

Actually, from what I can tell the aero parts usually allow you to adjust downforce, which effects handling in turns.

Rear wings add rear downforce, but front splitters don't do anything unfortunately.

weight, rim size, width, offset... you know, the important things? how they look is irrelevant.

It's too bad they didn't incorporate this since you can effect the handling balance by staggering wheel sizes for more under/oversteer or altering the slip angle by changing the offsets, or more grip with beefier rear tires.

Exactly. Plus decreasing the rotational mass and unsprung weight can make a huge difference in performance and handling.
