AI easyness on indy 500.

Ok. I've been playing the American Championship and I have never noticed anything wrong with the AI, at least till now. I'll be making my way to first place and as I'm exiting a turn, behind and on the inside of a opposing vehicle, they will slow down a lot and then speed back up after I pass them. This really brings down the experience of racing with evenly-matched opponents on a high-speed track. I really want an answer on why this is happening. Thanks. :)
 
It's the same for a lot of races unfortunately, just poor AI in gt5. The NASCAR superspeedway races (especially Daytona) and the FGT Championship are about the only races where the AI are a little more reluctant.
