Sorry if this has been discussed, but I can only find B-Spec info when searching. I'm starting the Endurance races, did Grand Valley and now the part way through the 4 hr. Roadster event. What is with the AI not pitting?

I'm 1:30+ into the race (about 75-80 laps complete or thereabouts) and the AI have yet to pit? I pitted around the 45 minute mark, worked my way back to about 12 seconds behind, and my tires are now shot again, so I'm pitting and have suspended. I used Sport Hard for the first stint and Sport Soft for the second.

When is the AI going to pit? If I have to pit twice for everytime they are going to pit then I don't think I have a chance at this. I am not sliding into every corner or losing the rear powering out of a corner. I just don't see how I can be eating up my tires more than twice as fast as they are, maybe 20% more if I was really pushing it, but this is insane.

What's the deal?

Are you using racing tyres or not? Because those get eaten up a TON faster then sports tyres.

Also, the AI are under aggressive, so they save a lot on tyre wear. When I did the 24 Hours of Le Mans, I noticed that by backing off just 2 seconds per lap, I could extend the tyre life from 30 minutes to almost 45 minutes in an Audi R8, so if the AI are 2 seconds off the pace on sports tyres, they could probably save 45 minutes or so.

Sport Hard first stint, Sport Soft second stint (which lasted longer than the first). I'm driving hard but not over the edge, their tires are lasting more than twice as long as mine.

I think it's just from the AI's being easier on tyres, and being able to handle more worn tyres then you can use.

You should stay on the soft, though. They last longer than the hards, and try to keep wheelspin to a minimum; that eats up tyres.

The AI only pit once, just past half-way. You can go that long on SS tires easily if you're kind to them. I barely made it to half-way on SH's but the last several laps I was on cords. I had to switch to SS's for the second stint due to a wheel glitch costing me a minute or so & I could only gain a couple tenths per lap on the harder tires. The softs had another 10-15 laps in them at the end of the race although my times had begun to go up in the final few laps.

Endurance races require a slightly different style of driving to make the tires last longer. Very different if you like to slide and E-brake a lot. Brake earlier and straighter, accelerate a bit later, and keep the tires quiet. They can talk a little bit, but don't let them yell and scream. Turning the brake pressure down a notch two-thirds of the way through a stint can help too, particularly with ABS off.

Using a wheel might help with tire wear too, I'm not sure. If we wheel-jockeys do have any advantage I'd think that's where it is.

When I did the 4 hour roadster race, I only had to pit one time and that was just passed halfway through the race.

I guess I'm just really hard on these tires then. I don't hear any squealing but I guess that's just the way it's going to be.
