AI Tyre Choices in Arcade Mode

Does anyone know if the AI drivers always use the default tyres for whatever car they're using in arcade mode or whether it depends on the race distance?

I used to like it in GT4 where they used the same tyres as you but this isn't the case anymore...

Oh, I didn't realise you could in fact change the AI's tyres. Bit of a long-winded method for short races, but it'll do. Thanks for creating the thread.
