Before the All Japanese Championship I played the PL GT All Stars with my Denso Supra and I had one helluva time beating it-up against an R390 LM and a GT-One Racecar, so when I played the All Japanese I was expecting a fairly high level of competition... I was sorely disappointed...
I don't have the replay, so I don't know the exact times, but I remember about how far ahead I was when I decided to stop and wait, so the numbers I'm using are within 1-5 seconds of the actual times. (It was only a couple of hours ago, and I watched the replay while I was eating, so the times are pretty damn close, if not on the second)
This is as bad as it got, on Grand Valley II:
Me: Denso Supra @ 911 HP with 1700+ miles on it and in desperate need of an oil change
Up against: Arta NSX, Denso Supra, Loctite Zexel, Castrol Mugen NSX, and the Pennzoil Nismo
Lap 1: Start in 6th, pull into 1st in the long tunnel
Lap 2: around 10 seconds ahead when he crosses the start line Lap 3: 24 up at the start line - stop at the beginning of the fast left/right/left/right combo before the last corner and wait for them to catch up (the Arta and Supra catch up and pass) - Arta is 5 seconds up on me at the last time-check at the end of the left/right's
Lap 4: Arta is 2 seconds ahead at the start line - catch him at the first 90 degree left and pace him for the rest of the lap to find out what the holdup is, until the Supra knocks me into the sand on the last corner (it seems they go really really slow in the tunnel right after the bridge...I usually gain around 5-7 seconds on them in that section)
Lap 5: Pass him in the long tunnel again, forget how far behind I was at the start
Lap 8: 40 or so seconds up on the Arta by the last checkpoint
Start Lap 9: Pit
Lap 9: about 30 or so ahead I wait at the last corner and time it just right so that I exit right behind him and pace him to the start line, where I shift out of 4th and wave "bye"
Lap 11: 14 something seconds up on him at the start line
Lap 12: Wait after the last tunnel for the Arta to catch up, pace him to the last corner and take off on the strait
Lap 15: Skid into the sand after the last tunnel (where I waited last time)
Finish: 23 seconds ahead, 28 and a half minutes total race time
HOW SAD IS THAT?!? I waited over 2 minutes total in there! And I'm a slow ass driver!
This just struck me as really really unbalanced as compared to how hard I had to fight for my R390 LM prize car in the PL GT All Star championship... not to mention the Vitz race.
This complete and utter destruction of the AI led me to playing the Sunday Cup in my Supra, driving with my feet on my DuelShock 2 (I already posted that earlier, should be at the top still... just wanted to explain why it was exactly I raced with my feet... and it turned out to be so long that I decided to post a new thread.)
