I recently re-installed AIM on my computer after not having used it for a while. After using it for a while today I started getting prompted to DL a "security update" by AOhell. After trying to ignore it several times I finally decided to go a little further and see what this update is exactly. Turns out it is actually trying to install AOL on my beloved XP desktop (fate worse than any porn virus IMHO). Is there a way to shut the prompt up without installing a glorified virus on my computer? Will Dick Tracy and the Duke boys finally put away their differences? Tune in next week for the climactic finale!

But seriously any help would be appreciated, and use small e z to understand words since I would rather be under the hood of a car than dealing with this (ie not very good with computers ;))

Install an old version of AIM. I've had 5.9 for three or four years now, with no troubles whatsoever. After a little while the "Update Available!" messages stopped, too.

AOL offers 5.9 for people with slow computers. Oh, and for those who don't want to be raped.
