AI's Best performing track?

The AI even got cheeky.
Last lap, in the 90 degree turns before the last long straight. The Megane RS was fast all race. However, the RC Z passed it. When I was getting ready for an inside move, it took the line, naturally. We've all seen it before. This time, though, it decided to slow up even more. I had to hit the brakes hard and bumped it. This allowed the RC Z to gap us down the straight and to the finish.
As my daughter says, "How rude!".

GT is trying to be a serious game but never actually serious in the competitiveness. I recently watched Jimmy Broadbent on YouTube racing a 911 RSR on Rfactor2 and the quality of AI was absolutely insane!. Why can't kaz give us that choice?

In custom, I select all the ‘hardest’ options, pick my favourite car and track and run a test race to see how many laps it takes me to over take the leader. I then lower the lap count by one, as the race length.

The AI always use the worst tires available so that's why they are so slow, lol.
there is one question that bugs me for a while if i choose soft tyres does all the opponets also drives on soft ?

I don't think so, they seem to stay on the stock tyre compound.

so they always drive on sport hard ? this is bad if true. That is why i drive the most on sports hard and comfort hard tyres at least they are more competitive to the opponents.

I've mainly done Custom Races since buying the game in June. I think they are universally bad on all the tracks I've raced tried to avoid them at, but they only seem faster on certain tracks if the tracks themselves are faster i.ie having more straights (like Big Willow for example).

Best way in Custom mode is to nerf your car in a One Make Race. Never tune it! The AI is very slow around corners, so go down one tyre compound & add maximum weight too. This will slow you down around corners to help minimise the problem, although it won't anywhere near get rid of it. Then use a power nerf to balance it out further; on faster tracks use less nerfing, & on slower tracks use more. I've had a little bit of fun doing this these past few weeks.
That's how I do GT League :D I always nerf my car so it's more fun (or less boring, really), plus I get handicap bonus.

Brands Hatch in Group 1 or Group 2 cars. Switch off fuel usage and put tyre wear up high.

They're fairly fast and if you make it a rule that you can't pit you'll probably find the AI are better at managing their tyres.

It's so an average racer can catch up to and beat them if they choose better tires.

FIA settings replicated in custom race with AI set on professional and boost off
- Gr.2 at Interlagos.

In my simulation runs for FIA races I can usually get ahead by well over a minute. On most combos I can lap the second placed car easily. At this particular combo the AI seems unusually strong however. With a perfect race I usually finish about 25 seconds ahead. One big spin means not even winning the race.
As an indicator, on most tracks I am generally about 1,5 seconds slower than number one on the leaderboards.

With this update, it's feeling like the car also has much to do with "AI behaviour". I'm hitting the real tracks only, in Mini One Makes. 20 car grid, no wear, no damage, Grid start, 10 minute Endurance.
Every race, I'm treated with close racing. I've won two races without dive bombing(Bathurst and Monza no chicanes). Lowest finish is 8th at Monza GP. No chasing rabbits.

The pack racing is real. AI aren't brake Checking. They're carrying good speed into turns, with some light stabs of the brake to transfer weight. I'm shifting when my avatar's hand leaves the steering wheel. At the same time, i can hear the AI are shifting before the fuel cut. Even the AI at the back are raci G hard. Cool stuff.

So far, the AI, using the Mini, are pretty good at the real world tracks.

I've been doing a bunch of GT League races. 'Best' was on Sarthe, GR.1 endurance. The AI is still slow as hell yet at least they weren't in the way as much and actually draft passed and undercut properly in corners.

By far the worst was the GR3 endurance on Mount Panorama, slowing me all they way down to 2:11 to 2:16 laps with the AI braking about 30 times, every where in the mountain section and driving in the middle as if I'm not there. Braking at the apex is so annoying.

Is the AI a lot better in custom races?

It's looking like St. Croix B II, 10 minute, Fuel/Tyre 1X, 35m interval, Boost Off, Heavy Damage, Slipstream & Grip Real, BoP Off.

About 3 corners where AI are selective in slowing when no need to. Other than that, as can be seen, pretty darn quick in Gr. 3.

Giving Gr. 4 a try.

I remember that in GT5 they would let you pass them and sometimes when they had a faster car and were catching to you they wouldn't even pass you for some reason. In GT6 they were little bit faster and more competitive if I remember correctly, but they were still very slow as I could easily overtake them even though I was like 12 with automatic transmission and all aids turned on..In GT Sport they are once again even faster and more competitive. I remember the first days I played GT sport and I was having a hard time catching them, which was understandable as I was still using automatic and aids and like I said they were faster + gt sport has more realistic ( harder ) psychics than it's predecessors. However, by the time I started using manual, turned off aids and became much, much more skilled driver. Now it's just impossible for me to even enjoy any custom race as they are just incredibly slow compared to me. Overall, I think they just suck at every track, the most difficult might be nurburgring or interlagos imo, as it's harder to pass cars there.

AI is slow on corners, but the way they compensate it on straights... Oh my God

Rubberband in this game is real. Especially in GT League (you can turn it off in Custom Race IIRC). When you're at the back of the pack everyone seems slow, BUT as soon as you reach first place... It is immensely frustrating when N600 458 Italia overtakes your N1000 LaFerrari on a straight sections :banghead:
