Figure I should make a thread for my truck :p



This is AJ. My 1962 GMC Stepside 1000 Series. With the help of the ID and VIN, I've found out her history to a degree. She was made in Pontiac, Michigan, at a GMC Only plant. From there, she was sold in Alabama, and then went to New Mexico, then to New York, where I got 'er last june from a friend of my dads for $3,000. She's got some issues, Fading paint, a completely worn out cam and a few other minor issues that have been fixed. She's still got work that she needs done, proper headlights, working fuel gauge, Door locks, windshield wipers, and other stuff. As for a final version, this is what I'm hoping for...

Some sort of mix of classic and modern, to throw off all of the classic, dime a dozen resto-mod trucks.

As for right now, she's got
  • Fixed Doors (Weren't shutting properly)
  • New Hot Rod Jegs Cam

What she needs
  • Door Locks
  • Better Headlights
  • Better Windsheild Wipers
  • Working Fuel Gauge
  • New Spedometer gear
  • New Weather molding
  • New Window Trim
  • Better Turning signal Lamps
  • A Letter C (Currently a GMG)

And what she wants
  • Chrome Bumpers
  • New Paint
  • Work Equip 03's
  • Custom Metal Toneuo Cover
  • 16x20 Picture storage in bed
  • New Exhaust
  • Better Stereo System + Subwoofer
  • Sticker Bombed Tail Gate
  • Lower Suspension
  • Zecora on Dashboard

So yeah, I'll be updating through out the summer hopefully with progress.

They don't make Work Equip 03's in that bolt pattern, and are you sure you want 2 tons of car sitting on wheels made for small sports cars?

Yeah, I figured that about the Bolt Pattern, but I'll probably still end up contacting them about it, and see what the max. weight would be.

that really cheap or kinda, because here in Bahrain people export classic cars
from USA and that costs 1000BD (about 2.6k$) buy some new parts for it like
lights, chrome parts, etc then sell it for 5000BD to 10000BD (13000-25000$) and there is a lot of guys buying too, and yeah it pretty weird :odd:
 
Dont worry about bolt pattern. Thats why they make adapters. Ive autocrossed and DD'd 2 tons of car on adapters with no issue. Big adapters too. 1.5" and 2".

Just make sure the wheels you choose are up to the task. I like the idea of some classic looking japanese wheels on the old truck. Haters gonna hate.

speaking of wheels I know all those Dajiban custom vans seem to run Watanabe wheels.
 
Loving the design you made for it. Makes a nice change from all the other trucks you see! 👍
 

Welp, not staying with the original design at all, I'm going wild. She's now Chrome Orange from a Brockway truck, and I'm planning on doing Orange/White. Still gotta try to find some good white rims (finding 6 lugs are hard as hell)
I changed from the blue because a lot of the trucks i'd see were that same shade of blue and it didn't really stand out any.
But she's getting worked on slowly but surely, hopefully i'll find some new rims instead of using the current ones, they look to... redneck 4x4.​
