Brenda Priddy's cameras have managed to capture the limited run Alfa C8 testing on the Nürburgring track in Germany. These photos show that the production car has had several modifications from the original concept.

As Alfa 8C Competizione takes on its role as a leading player, the combination of the exhilaration generated by its design and the pleasure of its drive clearly make Alfa Romeo stand out within its category. Comparing both, the concepts and the prototype shown here, we’re able to reveal the many modifications that will turn the show-stunner into a road-legal production car: new air-intakes, softer edges, wider A-pillars, and many more.

The car will be powered by an unprecedented 4,591 cm3, 90° eight-cylinder engine. Maximum engine performance is 450 bhp at 7000 rpm, with a peak torque of 470 Nm at 4750 rpm and top speed capacity at 7500 rpm.

With six gears and a computerized gearbox system situated behind the steering-wheel, the new 8C offers pinpoint gear response, and has been developed to be driven at Manual-Regular, Manual-Sporty, Automatic-Regular, Automatic-Sporty and Ice modes.

The 8C’s suspension and brake systems have been designed using racetrack engineering and developed technologies. The front and rear dual wishbone suspension and aluminum calipers ensure exceptional traction and braking performance. The 8C makes use of Alfa Romeo’s latest VDC technology (advanced stability and traction control systems) for best driving performance in any situation as well as guaranteed driving safety. And we’re expecting the 8C Competizione to mark Alfa’s re-entry into the U.S.-market.

My God I still love this car! The look, the power, and the presumed sound... Its going to be the best "poor-man's Ferrari" ever!

However, is it just me, or do the rear-brakes seem way too small on that second picture? Those must be 13" or 14" brakes with four-piston calipers up front... The ones on the rear look like they came off the front of my Jetta...

Oh dear – those alloys better not be the ones that the production model uses.

^ -Those are really strange. I hope the 8C loses them on the voyage across the pond.

Other than that, the car looks even better than I remember seeing it. Absolutely stunning.

Ah images not loading!!! Noooooo!

[EDIT] Okay, used my noggin and went to LLN.com

That car looks brilliant, only thing though, the rear brake disks look puny compared to the front.

Same here. Why the torture YSSMAN?!
EDIT: Looks very nice.

Alfa have to take that GT racing. It'd be a crime against humanity to not have that broadcast all over the world every few weeks.

I agree about the wheels, they are nice but not nice enough to be on a rolling piece of artwork such as this, I really like the wheels that were on the original concept so hopefully those will at least be an option. As for the rear brakes, those cant be right... Time to pull my picture of the original concept again to celebrate 👍

The car will come with telephone-dial five-spoke wheels that were on the 2007 Geneva show car. Which in terms of looks was production ready.

I want one of those.

And, with Alfa's depreciation, I'll only have to wait 2 years to be able to afford one.

More like 20 minutes after launch :-)

Real Life Anecdote - My Uncle has a passion for Alfas. A while ago, he was contemplating swapping his GT 2.0 for a 3.2 model which the shop just took in on a trade. The lady who traded in the 3.2 was piss tired of the reverse sensor going on when she was reversing up her driveway. Even bushes will set it off - it's that sensitive - That, and she complained about the lack of sight through the back window. So - She traded the GT 3.2 for a Brera... Cool thing is, the lady is 70+ years old.. :-)

Y'know, the concept photos and renderings never hit me that much, (yawn, another concept...) but in the naked sunlight... Gads, that is pretty... :D

I would just like to start out saying that this car is hot!! Its like rolling sex! On a more serious note I cant wait to see how it performs and to see how it stacks up to the compittion. 👍

I don't actually mind the wheels that are on the car in the photos?? :odd:

CCX
whats the difference bwteen the 8c and c8?

I think the C8 is some form of a Spyker isn't it?

Title fixed, my bad. Sometimes I get a bit dyslexic...

Aren't most road cars like that, though? Lots of front brake bias for a little more understeer.
The car looks awesome. Any hints on price and what this car is supposed to compete with?

Prices aren't going to be cheap: I wouldn't expect any less than $80K to start, and that may even be a low number. A safe bet would probably be right around $100K, just like the Audi R8. But with that "son-of-Ferrari" look and sound (Ferrari/Maserati-sourced V8), I'm doubting they will have problems selling them in Europe and the rest of the world (including the US).

Even with all that tape on it, it still looks amazing. You could let a class of kindergarteners loose on it with boxes of melting Craylolas and it would still look nice.

Someone saw this in the Nurburgring Snapshot thread yesterday it was pretty awesome. I love this car but my friend hates. He puts it on the same level as the Porsche Boxster. But I love it and can't wait for this thing.

Those are Maserati Quattroporte wheels. I'm sure they are just on it for testing.

It has a confirmed UK price of £105k? (136k Euros) so i doubt you'll see them for under $150-160k. A R8 in the UK has a list price of £76k.

*edit*

Only 500 will be made, all have already been sold, 100 will be exported to the US.

Crank that £105k down just a bit (given your taxes and the currency exchanges), and a rough estimate would put the Alfa somewhere around $90-100K USD.

To get it down to $100k you'd be looking at halving the UK price, the taxes don't account for 50% of the cost. It'll be somewhere between $100 and $150 in the US imo.

The R8 in europe goes for 100k Euro's - the Alfa 8C is 136k Euro's. You are going to be looking at more than $136k for the Alfa over in the US at least.

I'll vouch for the Mini-Ferrari, thing. Actually, I'd go as far as to say it's a modern-day Dino...

Actually, the difference between the Euro and the Dollar are minimal in most cases, so you will often see prices for cars in Euros replicated here in the US. If that is indeed the announced price for mainland Europe, chances are we will see a similar price here in the US.

...Plus, I wouldn't have expected it to be too much different than the Maserati price anyway...
