I Renown I
I don't know how to pronounce it, but it's the best-looking Alfa I've seen since the Brera and 8C.

Alfa Romeo 2uettottanta Concept

To mark its 80th anniversary, Pininfarina proposes an "open" Alfa Romeo 2uettottanta Concept that is exciting and a delight to drive. For those who still like to dream in a car. For those looking for a mixture of vanity, entertainment, and the pleasure of life in the open air. For those who love icons as the greatest expression of the age we live in. For those who want their cars to be an uncommon sensory experience in terms of both style and driving, without being obsessed by performance. For those who want to be excited by a dynamic, sporty car that transmits the exclusiveness and refinement typical of an Alfa Romeo spider designed by Pininfarina.
2uettottanta: a name that evokes the legendary Duetto, but also the years of activity at Pininfarina, which launches the celebrations for its 80th anniversary with this concept car. And it has decided to do so with a type of car that is by definition, the work of Pininfarina: an Alfa Romeo spider. A very Italian product, which has become an export brand, representing the inexhaustible talent that the whole world associates with Italy.
The Alfa Romeo 2uettottanta Concept reflects Pininfarina's determination to look to the future with optimism following tradition, restating its excellence in design and its acknowledged capacity for aesthetic and technological innovation. It is a concept that represents an innovative approach, projected into the third millennium, to a topic that is firmly rooted in Pininfarina history, the 2-seater spider. And like the best Alfa Romeo sports cars to come from Pininfarina's pencil, the Alfa Romeo 2uettottanta Concept exalts the driving experience and concentrates on the excitement of being at the wheel of an open car with a great aesthetic personality. It is a car that can make people dream and excites even after many years. The icon of a lifestyle that harks back to a lively, tumultuous period. Like the Duetto of the Sixties, which helped to establish a trend based on the themes of rebellion and escape, thanks to the film "The Graduate".

With lines like that it better be RWD or then Alfa Romeo is doing it wrong.

Stunning... best looking Alfa from the modern era.

And it has to be RWD... no way you could have FWD with that short a front overhang.

What is this the 1990's?

It's an Alfa though, so at least it looks like an awesome concept from the 1990's but still with those lines it looks like it should be making it's debute appearance at the 1995 Geneva Auto Show. If they built it though I would totally rock it since it doesn't have that goofy scared owl look that the Mi.To. has.

Well, quick googling reveals that it has 1750cc turbocharged engine, mounted longitudinally.. Which gives me hope. Sadly it is just a design study, and it is uncertain whether it is planned for future production.

They usually are...

Which is why I really hate the concept behind concept cars - It's like the Cadillac Cien all over again. :grumpy:

Exactly. It's an incredibly handsome car, however if I had stumbled across just the image, I would've thought it was a concept from 1997. Pininfarina know how to design cars, we know that by now, however they need to keep thinking forward.

Well, thank you, sir.

Now it seems like a name they've used before.

Utterly gorgeous.

Note to rest of car industry: That is what a roadster should look like.

Note to Alfa Romeo: Build the damn thing.

I like how Alfa Romeo almost automatically means beautiful around here...

I like it a lot. Yes, it looks a little outdated, and it isn't that outlandish. But there is nothing on the car that looks out of place and nothing that appears to be missing from the styling. The only thing I'd change is the hood line. That makes it look a little bit too much 1990s pop-up headlights kind of thing.

I believe that Alfa commissioned their styling department and a couple other companies to do three design studies to do a sort of survey to decide what one of their upcoming replacements will look like. I'm not complaining about a concept showdown like that. Especially if they're Alfas and they're looking to put one into production.

If they sold that along the lines of the Cayman or Boxster's price point, I would literally save up for one.

I believe the number is just advertising bollocks. The car's officially called "Duetto" according to Pininfarina.

I have an idea on how to improve the headlights. Will photoshop it later.

Eh put smaller Brera headlights on it and it would look good.

I actually like this one. Very nice lines, reminds me of the original spyder. It'd be awesome to see the current Brera-based car replaced by this.

Now, if only we could get Alfa to build it, and let Dodge finally build that Razor concept or whatever it was on the same platform...

The only thing I don't really like is the headlights, they just look too plain but maybe because I'm not used to seeing cars like this, apart from that I think it's a beautiful little car.

Yup I'm normal. Thanks for that though.

I have to admit the whole "Are you normal???" thing is a bit funny, but let's refrain from possibly insulting one another.

Please. If you don't know how to respect other people opinions, then don't come to a forum.

More like S2000 price point. But if they could do Miata price point, hell they would dominate the roadster market segment. 💡 ..and I would put an order for one right now.

It's beautiful. They should make it.

I love the name too. I've been calling it the Twoetto since the first one was the Duetto. It's better that than Dueduetto. Whatever it's called I like it.

I don't think it's as good looking as the 8C. It's way too 'concept' for my liking, it just looks the same as most other roadster concepts out there. Slanted, thin lights front and back, sweeping curves along the back and random 'slices' everywhere.

In my opinion the 8c still is much prettier. But this one is okay I suppose. I wonder what they'll scrap íf they plan on building it, since it's a pininfarina concept and all.

Too concept-ish. From that rear quarter view I'd believe it if you said this was a rebodied Solstice. Its also kind of boring to me. It just has a few long, slow curving lines, then tries to do the 90s supercar concept thing on the front. I really only like the rear of it.
