The GTV6 was a successful racing car, winning the European Touring Car Championship an unprecedented four years succession (1982-1985), the British Touring Car Championship in 1983 in the hands of Andy Rouse, as well as many other racing & rallying competitions at National level. In Group A specification, driven by Yves Loubet, the GTV6 won it's class on the Tour de Course round of the World Rally Championship from 1983-1986. In 1987, a GTV6 driven by Greg Carr & Fred Gocentas won the Australian Rally Championship.

Enjoy this video of the car racing at the Phillip Island circuit in an Historic racing meeting.

For some unknown reason the driver doesn't use 5th gear. Perhaps a gremlin crept into the car for this particular meeting.
