This stunning sports car really raises the roof when it comes to convertible technology...

This is Alfa Romeo's new LF, and although it's only a concept, it could eventually replace the Brera Spyder.

Featuring a roof produced by Italian hood expert Fioravanti, it's no ordinary drop-top. Thanks to the firm's patented design, the glass roof rotates and flips back on itself to lie flat on the rear deck, similar in concept to the Ferrari 575M Superamerica, which Fioravanti developed in 2005.

With headlamps that stretch up to the corners of the windscreen, a bold Alfa shield grille on the nose and slim tail-lights, the LF is nearly as striking as the Prancing Horse model. The new two-seater was revealed at a show in Italy this week, which is held to celebrate innovative car designs. As well as the LF, 70 other models were on display.

I really don't like the looks of that, it's innovative, but it's ugly.

It's only a concept, but if it goes into production, I reckon it will change a bit.

As it stands, its a great concept. Make it look something like an Alfa, and they may have a winner.

There is some hope there.. maybe. Right now its trying way too hard to be original though.

Alfa Spider anyone?

I like it, at least as a "toe-in-the-water" idea vehicle. I'd consider a follow-up to the Spider to be an important part of the Alfa lineup, particularly here in North America where we fell in love with the car so long ago. It isn't that the Brera doesn't cut it, but it simply "isn't a Spider."

It looks like a dog sticking its head out the window of a spaceship at warp speed. Why don't they just make the car one gigantic headlight fixture?

Other than that, I actually like what I see. The flying buttresses could have been more graceful, though.

I thought this looked familar...

Something tells me that Fioravanti may be helping Alfa with a new concept, but I seriously doubt it's the 2001 Vola concept. Those pictures are obviously old; modern concepts would never have anything but extremely-low profile tires and huge rims ;).

I really, really like that.

But put some proper Alfa wheels on it.

Eeek! Acid-trip headlights...don't stop in the middle of bat country.

It's different.

Why are they showing pictures of a concept car that is 5 years old? It's obvious that the design is seriously dated. Slip's link has a picture of the car with its top down, and that is definitely the same car. This would have been on LLN were it real. So is the debut real?

I can't see that, or any part of it, becoming reality. It's so ugly, the Chinese could do better (okay, maybe that's a bit harsh). What are those white pods supposed to be: iPod earbuds? :yuck:

Wow, it's like the Russo-Baltique Impression and the Pontiac Solstice had ugly, drunken sex, resulting in this...whatever the hell that thing is supposed to be.

It looks like its about to burst into flames.

Cram it.

Don't much care for the car.

Uh....

There's having stacked headlights...and there's grotesquely so.

this is the latter.

I love that Alfa Romeo Spyder(?) Duetto in Post #7, YSSMAN. That is a beautiful Italian car. Now back to this concept. I always try not to knock a concept car too much because it's a car that may or may not be created. If it isn't going to be created, why judge it as an abomination? I do wish I could see some of the lines better. It should have been in Alfa's signature Alfa Red. Its final version would be pretty nice to see in the States since Alfa Romeo wants to return to America in a few years. I am very sure we will not see these extremely elongated headlights when the final variation of this car comes to form. I'd definitely want to see some better wheels for the final car. Maybe the final build will be a winner. Sure like to see how this car will look when it's all played out.

This is a car from five years ago? How does this tie into the latest concept, then?

I have no clue, and I don't know why everyone is talking about it. It's not the right car. And if it is, Alfa is an idiot.
