All GT TV videos 99c for 2 weeks

On Friday, August 1st, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue owners will receive a significant update that’ll take their racing experience to a new level.

The heart of this update is a new line-up of exciting automotive programming for “Gran Turismo TV”, our in-game automotive media channel. Gearheads will enjoy a host of new free and pay-per-view programming, including our own exclusive behind-the-scenes content, episodes from “Top Gear“– UK’s premier car entertainment program, and Japan’s “Best Motoring” video magazine, dedicated to performance and pleasure of driving.
Whether you’re in the mood to tour Ferrari’s factory in Italy with Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi, be insulted hearing Jeremy Clarkson talk trash about your favorite cars, or just sit back and watch some mad Japanese race drivers play ‘car soccer’, there is a variety of choices for everybody out there.
For the first 2 weeks, we are providing all pay-per-view contents for a discount price of 99c. It’s a good way to get a taste Gran Turismo TV. The HD content we shoot for our exclusive stuff looks pretty amazing.

Personally I feel the need to find some American content to beef-up the roster. What do you think? We welcome any suggestions you may have.
Other gameplay enhancements come with this update, like fixes in penalty judgments, improved physics during collisions between cars during online races, more tire choices for Time Trial, etc. YES, we’ve been carefully monitoring players behaviors online and comments on the forums.

In my opinion, PD should be concentrating on the actual final game instead of GT-TV.

I'm thinking that PD did not spend that much time on this and i bet sony is helping them out big time since sony came out with their lame video rental/purchase store. This is just a simple task as there are no crazy graphic designs or insane physics involved, just video clips uploaded to a server for us to download. Its cool to see an update for the video content but I've already seen a butt load of videos throughout the internet so the video thingy isn't to appealing to me. I would rather have new vehicles and tracks oh and a lowrider with hydros in the game jk. I do give credit to PD though for having such a feature, which i have not seen on other games.

i dont understand how people assume that they are devoting all there time on GT TV and not on gt5. PD is a big company and seeing as GTTV is going to be a part of the GT series from now on they have devoted a section of the company to these programs. BUT the people in the GTTV department are all video editors and camera men and other such media positions and such and probably have no experience in programing a video game. where as im sure that the main programers are still hard at work on the game. i mean seriously do you think PD a multi million dollar company is going to let a bunch of software designers go shoot video and develop car programs? no there going to hire professionals to do those things.

Here's a quote from Kaz which leads me to believe he's putting a good deal of time into GTTV (and thus not game content):

"We have a staff of about 30 people at Polyphony Digital who are dedicated to creating programs for Gran Turismo TV, and I produce all of this, so you could say I'm 100% involved in all of these programs."

From this IGN interview, where he spends an awful lot of time discussing GTTV. If Kaz the perfectionist is distracted with the video stuff, he's not spending time on GT itself.

That means more or less 80 people - almost three quarters of Polyphony's employees - are working on game content instead of GTTV. Don't worry, that's plenty.

Polyphony is still focusing the vast majority of their time and effort on gameplay instead of GTTV. Plus, Kaz is the face of PD; he has to go around doing this stuff to spread GT's brand name, and GTTV only adds new depth and appeal to the game. Not everyone likes all of the peripherals that Polyphony is introducing, but the game as a whole won't suffer just because PD is branching out to try new things.
