the deadly battle has ended for me....my saved data is corrupt. 'life is not worth living.....'
only joking but I'm totally urinated off! All those man hours for jack faeces. Level 30 A & B, now all worthless. My CV is now worthless.
It all happened through the kindness of my heart- gifting a friend a nice motor from my 500+ garage without having to lose it, thus copying the save to a usb. Deleted save from ps3 and tried to copy usb save.....26% corrupt. it also says i've played 500! days!, and size of data is 1300kb so looks likely to be f'd.
All those cars, all those paints, all that time for nowt. back to bloody square zero............
You will abuse me but i know i'm not the only one out there. Is there any hope? The file is still on my usb but it ain't corrupt until i try to copy it.

Bad luck man, **** happens. When it comes to backing up, unless you have 3 copies you really aren't backed up at all. Since you have to delete one to restore another you still are down to relying on a single copy. On the bright side at least you have more events to do now....

And the 500 days is in game days, not actual play time. So not wrong, just badly worded.

Good luck.

Im sorry to hear about your loss. If you want I can hook you up with some useful cars to help you on your journey back to the top. Add me on PSN and I'll share some cars for you to borrow! ;)👍

If you want i'll give you a Viper ACR to grind that hard work back.

My ps3 YLoDed a couple of weeks ago and I lost 500 cars and level 30s too. The worst part was losing the worked-on cars that I'd grown attached to, and the couple of 15-20Mil priced cars I had. And the matte paint collection.

I could've shelled out to get the console fixed but I can't justify the price, regardless of the hours I'd racked up playing.

Let this be a warning from beyond the grave! Back up your data.

Take that console apart and do the heat gun trick (YouTube) to get YLOD fixed and retrieve your data. I've done this for myself and friends about 4 times. Always works but after awhile the ylod will come back. But u can get your data.

As for the corrupt data. Delete all previous gt5 files and then reload what u got on the stick. Also in options there is a retrieve data feature. Don't know if it'll help but try.

You know I watched those utoob vids and took the old ps3 apart as I went and then got to the heat gun part and realised I didn't have a heat gun (or even a hair-dryer). I thought it was going to be something I could do with my soldering iron, but no. Guitars are big, computers are small.

Anyway, I've accepted that it's gone. I've restarted and am going to take it more patiently this time.

But I hope your advice can help the OP.

TWO usb backups - I think that's the key.

Keeping important data on a USB key is the equivalent of leaving a kleptomaniac in charge of your jewlery store while you go on vacation... You might get lucky and find that she can't figure out how to get the display cases open, but most likely you'll return home to an empty store.

The point is, definately keep important stuff in more than 2 places at all times. If the save on the PS3 is to be overwritten, make sure you've got 2 off the PS3. Best of luck.

The exact same thing happened to me a couple weeks ago... add me if you want, I share some cars that will help you get back to where you were before that corrupted file.

my ps3 also YLODed... it ran long enough to back up the files after.. and i had a previous backup which that overwrote so im good

This is why I keep my GT5 save(s) on a USB flash drive, my computer's main HDD and another internal HDD.

Maybe overkill, but I've put far too much into this game to let it be wiped away.

Speaking of which, i better go Out and buy several usb flash drives to save it on, sorry for your lose, i would also "almost" lose the will to live....

I think you can fix corrupt data, my buddies game data went corrupt last night after the patch and he googled it and found a way to fix it.

It's a game. Life's work is 100 manuscripts printed for the success of German socialism, Level 30 in a game however, isn't.

I'm feeling rather annoyed today...

the badest thing that happen to me was when my roommate decided to check if MY 47" 1080p tv was better than his girlfriend 25" standard tv and he decided to RESET the PS3 when I was actualy in an endurance, ~30min left, 140/172 lap.... :s

Deleted save from ps3 and tried to copy usb save.....
Do Not Delete existing save just copy save from USB it will tell you you have an existing file of the same name and ask if you want to overwrite it. If the USB save is corrupt the overwrite is aborted with the existing game file staying intact, of course you will not have the car you gifted but lose nothing else.

thanks ppl- damn if only in hindsight..........
thanks for the cars- but no thanks.... I think right now GT5 is off the radar for a few days/weeks till I my hormones come back- right now GT5 is like erectile disfunction.
YLOD- not my machine lol- still going fine from the day it was born and baptised. This original piece of kit 60GB (300actually) is still going strong onto the 3d revolution and beyond......virtual- yes you heard it right.............

Exactly what g2010 said...never delete your main save. You can delete your ALT account save files but never do the main save. As for me I've got my file backed up on 2 Flash drives, an External HDD, and my computers HDD. (I've had way too many completely crazy bat**** things happen that resulted in the loss of hours and hours of game play) So yeah, you can never back something up too much, and always, always overwrite your main save instead of deleting it.

You could try to delete everything you have installed for GT5, reinstall, then reload data. Who knows maybe it'll work.

I had a moment of sheer brilliance yesterday, I backed up my previous save onto my PS3 HDD. Lost 3.5m in credits & a full experience level. Also some pretty trick cars. Aaaarrrgh!!!

I've deleted my main saved before copying from USB since...forever. Maybe I'll do the other method now.

If the OP wants a car I've got plenty.

This is why I have copies of my saved game data on other HDD as well, not only on a USB stick. I mean, copies of copies. If one saved game copy gets corrupted, I still have my other copies I could use.

My ps3 deleted my whole game saves after turning it off for the day. I had lvl 30s as well, with 200 cars. And this just happened yesterday. And not just GT, but all of my game saves. I'm currently lvl 23 now with a 14 lvl bspec. Starting all over is hard, golding all those licenses and crap.

And? Was your tv better?

Welcome to my world.

same thing happened to me TWICE. Fist time i was level 27, second time 15. My ps3 froze both times for no reason. Ive been off it for a while but today i really wanted to play and got sad when i saw the "welcome to gran turismo" sign when you start the game. I wanna have fun with it this time and i'll make sure i back up the saves. If some of you guys would be so kind to give me some cars, I'd appreciate it (i want them to play some online events to get credits to move up A-Spec faster). Thanks again. PSN:Alex2Much4U
