I haven't heard anything from Sony or PD about updates... Perhaps I'm spoiled as the last updates exceed expectations but out side of the "RedBull" blog talking in detail about the Pikes Peak track (too much detail to be dismissed, but nothing else to support the claim either) post things have been quiet...

Is Kas even tweeting anymore?

After 5 years of working on this I'm pretty sure they are all having a short break now the game has been released before they get back to giving us DLC.

And getting on with GT6...

He tweeted yesterday.

Perhaps you could check the "Kaz tweets!" thread? I get your frustration but we have a structure to this madness..... You don't HAVE to open a new thread for every new question.

I check the tweet thread but oftentimes it's people saying to ask this or that and hard to find the actual tweets...

And yeah, I thought pretty hard about creating another post as there have been others but they turned into wish lists and were created a week after the last update... now that we are getting closer to what appears to be a monthly schedule I thought there might be more information in the wild...

For instance I heard a few things, but being the only one who heard them isn't any kind of confirmation and just shy of rumor...

For instance, I "heard" that A-spec was structured intentionally to be a "practice mode", like B-spec with the thought being you are one of your B-spec drivers... Sorry if that sounds confusing... and then the same A and B spec structure is going to be mirrored again with online... same events, more restrictions (maybe?), but populated by real drivers... like a "hopper" system...

GT still has every intention of being completely online but GT 5 is a transitional product as full time online isn't a norm in consoles yet...

Additionally the "real time" events are in fact exactly what they say... with tracks being released leading up to actual Super GT races... This is what we commonly refer to as DLC but Sony/PD don't see it as DLC, they see it as "evolution" of the product...

This is bring back the Prolog world map and hot-spots with weather reports... this weather will be done in real time in game... hence the few that have seen snow on the Nuremberg track... has anyone thought to check the actual weather than when they see this?

Then the "boot up" screen before going into GT mode will be the main menu where the "live" or more robust MP options will be as this is where the online connection is made... no connection to the internet and it looks like it does today, have a live connection you'll be in an online race hub, GT mode will still be there and this where you acquire cars and mod them... etc... like now but open lobby will live in the main area and your lounge will stay in your community area... BUT the community area and main title screen will be more connected. Later B-spec will be pulled out of GT mode and put in its own area and have its own online home in the main screen...

These of course are all the result of a lot of updates and what people plan for today could be very different later... but GT 5 is still fully staffed and will be for the next year at least...

More? GT will re-release around the time any real competitor is challenging them and it will be re-marketed as an online racer, everything to everyone, with a TV show and other stuff... new box and docs, new pre-orders, a few bonuses for the double buyer, etc... Why was GT marketing so "thin"? Because all of this was intended for the final product...

What was cut? Complete "Home" integration... so they made their own "community" section.

Premium cars were never meant to be in GT 5, they were tech tests that went VERY well... Not all areas of development move at the same pace but these worked out so well they were included... And a lot of decisions and compromises were made to get them in... Though I could be off on the term "premium" but a few years ago they did NOT know how to get 16 100k poly cars on screen let alone with AI and physics... And GT isn't doing as much of the classic GT tricks they used to do... higher res cars in replays and dealers but lower res racing... There is some degree of this but nothing like they used to and that Forza does now... indicating it's still clearly an effective and commercially acceptable technique... Witch leads me to photo mode... this was never intended to be a part of replays and the leading reason they had to drop rewind and fast forward... that and the partical system couldn't be frozen and reanimated in real time... It's rendered on a different cell than the cars and tracks...

I went over board here but how the hell do I know this??? As far as anyone is concerned I don't, if I'm the only one that knows this it doesn't mean a hill of beans when it comes to Sony's future GT 5 plans... something large part influenced by the sales...

PD is not an "open to communication" kind of company. They were quiet throughout the whole development of GT5 and we won't know anything until they ready to tell us. So just be patient, play the game and the patch will come when they do.

Maybe I keep missing it, but I haven't seen that topic in a while.

No clue about the matchmaking or leader-board stuff... I don't see what the violation is... I could just delete it... but sharing what for all intensive purposes is hearsay, rumors, or otherwise just BS isn't a violation of any rule outside of an eastern European farm town...

<insert violation of AUP here>

He already stated it was rumor and hearsay. The means he isn't posting misinformation, he's posting what he's heard.

If he said: "This is fact," then that would be violating the AUP for knowingly posting misinformation AFAIK.

Hopefully some more tracks are coming, good gracious.
And A-Spec events. And maybe more Premium cars opened up to Race Modding.

Actually, there are a good number of tracks if you browse the Practice and Arcade sections, but they need to be employed in the events so we can enjoy them! Some more becoming available is always a good thing, but they need to be incorporated in single player A-Spec, because not all of us like or can race online any time we want.

Good point but as you said, they are sort of locked out when it comes to the meat of the game. Gotta be able to utilize them.

Dragon Age Origins: Ultimate edition has my attention now, I can wait for GT5 updates as I play more than one game. 38 hours in DA and Awakenings after that, since end of December. After that, back to BorderLands, then on to Mass Effect 2 next week then Dead Space 2 and Two Worlds 2 if it sticks to its date. With that said, if you just playing something else and try not to burn yourself out on just GT, the updates won't seem so far apart.

It feels great to be a PS3 gamer! LBP2 next month!

Version 1.05 release notes
•Improved Rewards: The rewards for winning races in both A-Spec and B-Spec in [GT Mode]-[GT Life] have been increased for a limited time only. (This applies until the end of January 2011.) This is a great chance for those who were previously having difficulties getting ahead in the game, due to a lack of funds for tuning and purchasing required cars.

According to those release notes the increased rewards will be reverted at the end of January 2011.
Most likely it'd be through an update.

Most likely it'd be through an update.

And its not common practice to take something away without replacing it... The increase in rewards was more to address a shortage of things to do and reduce grinding in combination with the regular rotating seasonal events...

No clue if more events are coming to A-spec but it's an easy update and one that would buy time and be whole heartedly welcomed by all... And just might be a fair change when reducing rewards... Though the increase was only 20%... In most higher level races thats just a stage 3 upgrade...
