I wanted to see Audi fail with their new design. I don't hate Audi or alternate fuels, but I do hate how the big-wigs were (more or less) hailing it as the next new thing that will own everyone else once again. My money is for Pescarolo to unseat them next year. I figured the turbo lag would be different enought to disrupt they're rythem.

BTW, What happened to Bently? I lost track of LMP racing for a while. What led to the dissappearing act?

My money is on the factory Peugot Coupes to unseed the Audi's in qualifying next year but get absolutely embarassed in the 24. As for Pescarolo, they'll be the best of the rest, unless they get the new LC75 (or LC70, whichever the P1 car is called) and the Peugot Diesel. Even then, I still see Joest/Audi Sport taking another win. Except this time it'll be Tom Kristiensen in the winning car :sly:!

Couple of points here, the first and most important is that this could quite easily have been added to the existing LeMans 2006 thread, the second is as a result after I answer your points its getting closed (for the reason I've just given).

Why want Audi to fail? They took on a massive engineering challenge (one you seem to underestimate - I strongly recomend you read up on what exactly is involved in what they have done) and in the face of quite a bit of doubt proved that it could be done.

Personally I would wait before putting my money on Pescarolo for next year, as its very likely that they will be running as Peugout next year (with in all chances a diesel engined car). So money on Pescarolo for next year would be money on a team that might not be running, sure way to lose money.

In regard to what happened to Bentley, well thats quite a simple one to answer. Audi and Bentley are both part of the VAG group, as such they are hardly likely to run two seperate VAG works teams and race against each other on an ongoing basis. Its one of the reasons why the Audi R8 and Bentley Speed 8 were cars from different classes. Once Bentley had achieved its aim (a win) the focus and monet returned to the Audi R8.
