Well, our forum has recently gone completely wrong and decided to reinstall it's self, so us admins have been deciding that since we have a completely fresh start, we may aswel try some software other than phpbb. It's broken on us twice now, so we've decided no more mods, and something with built in mods or more features is in order. We tried installing extremephpbb, but our hosting is having none of it. I like the invision stuff, it seems to have more features than phpbb, which is nice. I was just wondering if anyone can reccomment any alternative forum software to phpbb?

Thanks

Jon

Thanks, we've since settled on invision, but it's handy to know what other options there are. I've always wanted a vbulletin forum though, who doesn't. But until then, invision is good for me.

I've first started out with some free forum software (can't recall name, neither would.. :p ). Switched to SimpleMachines which is also free. At first it was good, being free, but then when members (the few there where) started uploading attachements and avatars, as well as posting basic pictures, the board got really "jiggy". In fact, two attachments in thumbnail view would slow down a single post. There moving along though, my hosting company usses there forum (it says a lot). Personall issues caused me to shut down the forum.

Now it's back up, and I'm using InvisionBoard; it cost money, but well worth it in my opinion. It's a bit daunting to customize it I suppose, but I at least changed the colors a little, and post icons.

Started another forum since i wrote this :p

Infact 2 new forums.

Both on invisionfree.com

Why? Because i've never had any problems with their hosting, EVER. That's why i keep going back.

I'll start paying for ad removal and more storage soon, methinks.
