I'm stuck!

I completed the first three series in Amateur and managed to win the Gillet Vertigo Race Car and I use this to try to win the GT race. I managed to get golds in all races except race 6 (sixth) and race 9 (fifth).

I just can't keep up and if I have an off that's it, I end up nearly 20 seconds behind sometimes.

The Seatle Circuit seems to give me the biggest problem.

If I use medium to soft tyres to give me grip then they wear out pretty quickly. If I use hard tyres then I just don't have the edge to keep up.


Should I be using a different car?

Should I be tuning the settings of the car? Up to now all I've had to alter is the gear ratios depending on wether it's a high speed or low speed track.

race a bunch until you have 1.enough money to buy an Escudo, and uase it to race the superspeedway endurance until you win the F090/s. 2. Win ALL rally races and you'll win the escudo, thendo the rest. Once you get the F090/s, you'll blow the races away.

The vertigo is the car to use.
you should definitely tune the engine if you are having trouble. It goes to like 700-800 hp. stick with medium tires and you shouldnt have to pit at all. It takes a little practice, but if you brake in a straight line and then accelerate through the turn, your tires wear a LOT less. (6-7 laps on any track is reasonable)

I dont know what tracks are used on races 6 and 9, but on the speedway, test track, and tokyo, you should open it up a hair in your transmission for greater top speed. For monaco, seattle, and other short tracks, shorten the ratio.

You can stiffen the suspension a bit and not push through turns.

Its very possible with this car.
 
Don't do what M3 tells you, then it will take a week to beat 50 minutes worth of a race, and cost you a lot of money.

If you can't get it going on with the Vertigo try the Camaro racecar(993hp) from the American Championship (amateur) or the Opel Astra touring car (829hp) From the german touring car, I found these a lot easier to control then the Vertigo, but I only raced the Vertigo 1 lap total really.
 
It is of course up to you what path you would choose to take. The Vertigo is more than enough car to Win Both the GT and the Super Speedway Endurance Race.

Here's what I might suggest:

1.) Take Brian's advise first.
2.) If that doesn't work then:

  • Make sure you have your IA licence.
  • Put T2 (Super Slicks) on the Vertigo
  • Set the gearing, somewhat narrow.
  • Goto the Super Speedway Endurance Race. (100 laps)
  • During the race, DO NOT PIT. You will be able to ride the walls on the corners.
  • Continue to do this for 100 laps.
  • If your lucky, (you have a 25% chance) you'll win a F-1 car. The F090/S to be exact.

I was fortunate enough to win the F-1 on my first try. I know others that are still trying to win a F-1 car.

Doesn't it seem like overkill to get an IA license and race the Superspeed way for an hour when the car is plenty powerful to win the series. Besides there is no guarantee you will win the F car, it's not necessarily 1 in 4, it might take 10 tries. Do you want to spend the weekend racing around the super speedway, or do you want to win races and kick ass?

Also you only need to win like 6 or 7 races depoending on how the #'s work out.

Qualify before each race. This will warm you up to each track so you'll be familiar with it once you begin, it will give you Pole (1st) Position too.
When you are qualifying various cars will be in pole position regardless of their place on the track. As soon as I hit 1st I exit out and I have Pole Position to start the race.

And save after each race. If you didn't get 1st reload your game from the main menu and race it again.

No not really. You'll have to race it anyways. Besides, having an extra 200,000 credits to upgrade existing cars might be helpful. Even if you don't win the F-1, it's still a win, win situation. :)
 
I'd take Pako's advise but what i did was put T2's on, they dont take away that much traction but if u feel like they do move the TCS up to 7 or 8 to compensate. Take advantage of the cars pitting and if u r directly behind a car hit his inside bumber to hopefully make them spin.

He's talkin bout the Amateur GT Championship but others have been talkin bout him doing the Super Speedway Enduro.

I should correct my original post. I meant race 7 which is Seatle and race 9 which is special stage 11 both very demanding tracks.

I won the Camero race car yesterday and I decided to give that one a go. I dropped the ride hide and stiffened the springs and fitted medium hard tyres. I then narrowed the gear ratio to suit faster acceleration.

I then had a go at qualifying in race 7. I managed to get up to 2nd. It was soooo hard but I eventualy managed gold. Flying up that hill is pure madness but I managed to get my braking about right. What was killing me before is that you only need one spill and that's it, your 6-7 seconds behind.

Race 9 was even harder. I found I had to accelerate like *$&% down the long straigh and crash at full speed into the sharp right hander. I know that sucks but it was the only way I could catch up when I spun.


Pure madness I tell you.

I ain't no spring chicken and I stink like I haven't washed for a week when I've done a few of them races.
