Im having a little trouble being competitive in the Amateur GT world champ race :banghead: . It may be my driving, but I feel my driving is good enough to win  . I have a fully tuned WRX-Sti with 561 HP. I am using T2's but I have T6's(but wear to quickly). Is this car capable of winning? Anyone use it for this race? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance.

Also, this is my first time here so hey everyone.;)

Welcome to GTP, WRX'r. It's a good place and don't believe what you hear about me...
This is a tough series along with the GT All Stars, because the JGTC cars are so obnoxiously aggressive. Look below at the "Worst Series" thread for some of my comments on how I won it. I won both series on points in other cars but to clean up all golds I needed the Raybrig NSX with some horsepower upgrades. It may be doable in the Sti but you will probably be better off in a purpose-built racer.

Also, I recommend going to the Writeups board and looking there, but you'll have to set your "Views" preference to be "From the Start" because it doesn't get much traffic and some of the threads are pretty old.

Anyway, good luck!

Thanks! I'll work with it.
My car was great in the beginner GT World champ race but it had less HP so it handled like a dream, but i did an engine balance and a Port Polish so now it feels it has too much power to stay on the track. I was thinking of getting the Subaru LM car and trying with that. Ill post my results.:D

Actully, my STi is faster than the others on straights, but they kill me on the turns.

The Impreza LM should work fine if you want to keep it in the family, but it may be overkill (edit: then again, it may not be). You do need downforce and light weight to keep up in the turns.

Good luck!

if you get the subaru LM, don't slap the biggest turbo.. slap the 2nd biggest turbo on it
cuz the biggest one will literally kill your car

I actually have the stage 4 turbo on my impreza LM and it handles like a dream.

go to that post for the setup. I used it for pro league all-star races though. using it in the amateurs would definately be overkill. you could always use a weaker turbo for now...but this setup rocks and should help with the nasty understeer

i agree that the stage 3 is enough...for amateur league and rally. When i got to pro league i just instinctively upgraded to the stage 4...didnt even try it with stage 3. I'll go back today and try it with stage 3...you're probably right, it would be enough. Nevertheless, the setup that i left a link for really does kick ass
