I didn't see another thread for ALMS 2010 so I figured I would start one! I'm very excited for this year to start.

The season finally starts with Twelve Hours of Sebring tomorrow (20th of March) at 10:00AM (EST) on the Speed channel for those who have it.

I would like a podium finish for one of the following in their class, obviously:

P2 - Greg Pickett - R8 Spider
GT2 - Marc Goossens - Jaguar XKRS

I'm new to America Le Mans. I decided to get into it after seeing that epic Corvette vs Porsche battle at Laguna Seca on youtube.

I'm rooting for the Porsche GT3RSR this season!

The flying lizards. I like Bergmeister a lot too, but I think the move he pulled at Laguna Seca was a bit too much. The Matt Neal of ALMS? :P

So what's up with the GT1 Corvette. I know that they won Le Mans last year but I don't see them in the roster. Will there be one at the actual Le Mans race?

Yes, there are Chevrolet Corvette ZR1's racing this year as usual. (In the spotters guide they are in the middle of the second row.)

Team #3 - Corvette Racing Compuware
Jan Magnussen / Roskilde, Denmark Chevrolet Corvette ZR1
Johnny O'Connell / Flowery Branch, GA
Antonio Garcia / Barcelona, Spain

Team #4 - Corvette Racing Compuware
Olivier Beretta / Monte Carlo, Monaco Chevrolet Corvette ZR1
Oliver Gavin / Yardley Hastings, England
Emmanuel Collard / Paris, France

Oh, you're looking for the C6-R. No, there will not be a GT1 class, there are no GT1 cars racing anymore and ALMSeries has been saying, for over a year, that GT1 is dead in their series. P1, P2, GT2, LMPC and GTC are the classes. But don't worry those GT2 Corvette's will be great to watch, and afterall they are based on the GT1 Corvette.

Here is the entry list: http://www.americanlemans.com/files/events/2010/1/2010_Sebring_Entry.pdf

I guess I'll make predictions

LMP1: Peugeot, Nobody can stand up to those diesel monsters
LMP2: not a clue, guess I will go with Acura (only 3 cars?)
LMPC: new class, spec car, anybody's race, I can guarantee they will sound amazing, thanks to a LS3 in there
GT2: Corvette Racing, GT1 might be out, but that don't mean they don't know what their doing
GTC: the other spec class, uhhh..... The Racers Group knows their way around a GT3 Cup, they should be ones to watch

Peugeot, Acura will take their classes, from what Ive seen on the live timing the BMW's are both fastest in class, then the Extreme Speed Ferraris. A little side note - they look 1000 times better in person. Pictures do not do those Ferraris justice. It will definitely be a good race in gt2. Corvette is always fast, and Risi and Flying lizard are the only teams to have won here since 2007 I believe. Challenge classes dont really interest me, I feel theyre just padding the car count.

Edit - Risi at top in GT2, GTC cars actually have the closest race. It just sucks that they will be the slowest cars on the track. GT2/GTC qualifying will start in 35 minutes. So wish I was there.

Qualifying starts in 20 minutes!

I'm expecting the Peugeot's will be up front.

They are just diesel monsters.

I can't wait to see them at my local track....LIME ROCK

Maybe they would let me sit in one....I have a lot of experience driving LMP cars!

Yes, but the freakin alms website isnt working. It was supposed to have live videos and timing. It doesnt work if the site doesnt open. Peugeot probly got the pole.

Team Peugeot Total swept the front row in qualifying for Saturday's Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Fresh from Florida. The No. 07 Peugeot 908 HDi-FAP of Marc Gene turned a 145.214, close to a half-second faster than the sister Peugeot of Nicolas Minassian in second. Stefan Mucke put his Aston Martin Racing Lola in third and best of the gasoline-powered LMP1s.

Patron Highcroft Racing's Marino Franchitti took his Honda Performance Development 01C to the LMP2 class pole (1:47.684), ahead of the No. 6 Team CytoSport Porsche RS Spyder of Klaus Graf in second (1:47.730).

In LMPC, Gunnar Jeannette (1:55.279) edged out IndyCar star Ryan Hunter-Reay and fellow open-wheel driver JR Hildebrand in a heated three-way battle for the class pole.

Dirk Muller put his No. 90 BMW Rahal Letterman Racing Team M3 on the GT2 class pole (2:00.781), following a late-session rally by the No. 45 Flying Lizard Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 RSR of Jorg Bergmeister, (2:01.150) who waited until the final ten minutes to set a time. Wolf Henzler ended up third (2:01.201) in the ever-improving Team Falken Tire Porsche. The top six qualifiers were separated by less than one second.

Alex Job Racing ended up 1-2-3 in GTC, with reigning Rolex Series GT champion Leh Keen grabbing the pole (2:05.959), ahead of teammate Patrick Kelly (2:07.018) and the No. 23 Porsche911 GT3 Cup of Romeo Kapudija (2:07.205) in third.

More to come...

stream.speedtv.com had live streaming, and will do between noon and 2pm tomorrow.

I want to see the full results. I can't get to the website either.

I wonder where the P&M Corvettes are?

Magnussen was 5th, I think Collard was 6th. Melo in the Risi was 4th. Wasn't paying full attention as I was working as well. The second M3 was 8th, not sure about the rest.

LMPC surprised me a lot, the qualifying was so so close and I can easily see it becoming the new LMP2 class standard in the future.

I don't much care about the Prototype class, I just wanna see the GTs! :D Got my alarm set for 10am tomorrow, though, since that's what time it shows on Speed channel.

Can I ask what time GMT+1 the race starts? I've yet to see Sebring live so I think I'm going to watch the streams tomorrow to get a nice view of all the new cars 👍

The race starts 10am EST time and i believe thats -4 GMT so +1 GMT would be 5am start time?

I think the answer you want is either 1 or 3 PM, your time, as long as you are using standard GMT.
I say 1 or 3 as I not sure what GMT +1 would be.
10 AM here is 2PM GMT.

It's 7:25PM (EST) here and 11:25PM GMT.

Hope that helps.

Try this in the future when your not sure.

There is an encore tomorrow morning on Speed for those who missed it. 7:00AM EST. I missed the last 30 minutes so I will be up, probably should have recorded it but I always forget DirectTV lets you record stuff!

Yea your right I went the wrong way with my math subtracting instead of adding. Just hope he saw that before he wakes up early for no reason.

But it looks like the GT2 battle is already off to start. The pole sitting BMW will be put to the back of the pack due to to much air getting to the engine and failing the post qual tech. Also one of the LMPC cars failed post qual tech and will be moved back to the back of the field.
