With only 2 races to go, we continue our Eastern tour with the dark streets of Hong Kong. With only one fast straight and many, many hard cornering, our drivers are sure to be tested to the top of their abilities.

Thanks to Kenny for this week's picture.

Track :
Hong Kong / Hotlap (Forward)

Rules:
Use the car and setup you have opted for, following the rules outlined in the AMC Thread.

Discuss only T-times.
Clean OLR Standards:
No wall touching.
Keep 2 wheels on the track or rubblestrips at all times.

No hybrids
No Cheating of any kind

Time Submission:
Send your time via PM to me, including splits and final run.

Submit the time listed in replay file name by 11:59 AM (PST) October Sunday 30th. You may run as often or as little as you like; you've got the full week to perfect your setup and gain the fastest single lap that you can.

Although I'd prefer it if drivers didn't re-send multiple times (it may cause a mix up with what is considered your final and fastest run), this is only a loose rule ... you can submit more than once before the deadline, just try not to bury me :p

Luxy has kindly allowed us a little webspace for tracking splits (as per the Luxy Leaderboard used in the WRS):

If I can Impale the shark here I may have 4th place locked up for the season. So no more talkin' it's time for business.

Yeah ... I've got an uphill struggle as it is, if this one goes against me I'm done for ... I need a decisive win here.

Okay, did a run in last night.

T1: 28.583
T2: 59.329

There's definitely more to be had...

T1: 28.850
T2: 1'00.081

I hope I can run splits closer to Jetboy's current splits ... certainly another .2 at T1 and.4-.5 at T2 ... haven't got into my groove yet or figured out the braking points and lines of the track, but this gives Goixoye something to nail :)

Well here's my splits so far, after about an hour on Sunday. Again trading WRS for AMC here...*sigh*

T1 - :28.821
T2 - 1:00.060

So I'm only .7 behind Jet? HHmmm....gonna have to try this one some more it seems

My times little slow right now, getting use to the corners first.

/fades into memories... I remember these areas btw, walking them in my younger days as a sailor. ...

Man you've been around a little bit ... I wish I had the experiences you've got of the orient 👍

New splits for me:
T1: 28.972
T2: 59.830

I've got .2-.3 at T1 for sure and a much better finish, so plenty on the track yet.

Edit: Nailed it faster than I thought:

T1: 28.704
T2: 59.518

Decent finish. Still think there's plenty more on the track.

As a slight aside, my Camaro is now 2hp down from it's potential maximum. It started at 412, lost 1HP of that somewhere along the line that no oil change can get back, and when I clocked 1,000 miles it dropped another HP ... now running at 410 max :(

I may have inadvertantly "cheated". Before the season began I read somewhere that the cars used for testing (assuming you had bought various different parts during the testing process) were not to be used for the competition....a "new" car was to be bought with just the parts specific to the set-up you intended to use (no left over unused parts). For some reason I thought that applied to the season as well. When I changed to the Shelby I had a parts package... I believe there were two changes to the allowable money...and I changed cars each of those times. Of course the parts package hasn't changed for awhile so my car still has 400+ miles on it (I noticed 371 but don't remember how long ago that's been). It could be (very likey) that this issue was addressed somewhere along the line and I missed it. If I've violated the rules then I need to face whatever penalty you see fit. Otherwise...in your case....you are allowed a car change...you opted to only change the parts (I suppose...unless you've put that much mileage on the car since your parts change?)...could you (or any competitor, for that matter) not swap one Z28 (or whatever car) for another (even if it had the exact same set up). This might allow you to maintain the HP.

It's bad enough your beating me...now your going to do it with reduced HP too?

Koly, I finally got some split times close (.07 slower than you at T2) to your original ones but I completely blew the final sector -- had the dang thang in 3rd when I shoulda been 2nd. Now you raised the bar before I even got to your initial one and I've really got some serious work to do. I really don't believe I can get to where you are now, so I guess I might once again be in "damage control" mode...hoping I can keep r8man behind me (as well as everybody else) and hoping that you're not quick enough to put someone up top in between us again...I guess I just like being close to you?...keep your friends close and your enemies even closer...just how close would I really want to be to a shark?

This track really kicks my @$$. I've already probably put more laps in here than anywhere else and it's only Wednesday morning. But I've got to keep at this thing until I can get my final lap time at least about .8 quicker than my current quickest clean lap :scared: . I may have to forego the 'Ring entirely this week...but I do have a long HTAS event to do that I may just have to "do the best I can" without worrying how competitive I am.

There's no question in my mind who the better driver is...I'm just fighting for a position in the final standings that I don't really deserve.

After the AMC is over I'm going to re-run the WRS qualifier again just to see if my abilities have improved very much during my stint in OLR.

I think its a flaw in the game and needs to be addressed for the next one. For now, I'd say buy a new one. For example, what if the other weekend when you were driving on the Nurb using my memory card and your exact car settings and beat your time....it would count then right? So go buy another one!

My, my, my... Somebody is closing in on me. Time to open up the throttle a little bit...

@Goixoye .. you haven't cheated, either intentionally or inadvertantly ... I could have bought a new car with my new parts but didn't, it wasn't necessary so I didn't bother. Likewise, there was nothing in the rules about running on one car all season, so theoretically you could have run 1 car per track .. as long as it was the same car and setup (as per the rules).

Me? I've just been pounding on this little Camaro since day one and now she's complaining!!!

I'm not sure if 2hp really makes a difference, and with only 1.5 weeks to go I may keep it and just see how many miles I clock overall and how much of a HP loss I get ... I think she'll always take a pride of place in my garage because of that!

Jet, yeah, I know when you decide to lay it down you'll be putting some splits on the table I have no chance of equalling, but right now I really can see me matching what you've got ;)

Those are some great splits Nat! I'll now be shooting for 59.450.. :trouble:

My goals: 28.250/ 58.850. That will take some shaving, but... I think I'm up to the challenge. :trouble:

Nat,
Is it legal to take a weight reduction you don't have money to pay for and then add back the weight as ballast?

Yellow '69 (C3) Vette at Hong Kong:

T1 - :28.756
T2 - :59.994

All that = :yuck:

I had a 59.6xx but shanked the next right and lost too much speed.....I should be .3 faster, I guess thats about my limit so far. Even still, I'm behind Kolyana by a good .1. Just terriffic splits! 👍 u :sly: cat u....

Heh, I've got more in me too ... goign to take a night or two off, but come Friday and Saturday I hope to raise the bar a good chunk :)

New lap

T1: 28.655 (+ .088)
T2: 59.255 (- .074)
Final: (- .001)

So, I know there is a tiny bit out there...

I'm really liking this Chevelle

First really good splits this week though

T1: 28.493
T2: 58.918

Great splits r8man. I was worried about trying to keep you behind me...damage control in my battle with Koly. But I'm not going to be able to touch your times this week. If your final sector was as sterling as the first two you may bring home gold this week.
