I was in a parking lot last night with a Merc that claimed to be an AMG V12 and I think it said supercharged, could have been turbocharged, I don't remember. I looked on the website and couldn't find anything that fit. I also think it was a two door, but I could be wrong. Any idea what it was I was looking at? Something 55.

The recent V8s are supercharged. It should read "KOMPRESSOR".

The recent V12s are turbocharged. It should read "BI-TURBO"

I think.

It could have been an SL or CL 65 AMG, the SL 65 AMG is two doored, and the CL 65 AMG is edit: also two doored. Both have the same 612BHP, 1000NM 6.0L V12 Twin Turbo.

My Guess: Click

The AMG SL55 is supercharged, but its a V8

perhaps you read the badge wrong and mistook the V8 for V12 - it was dark

i swear the cl65 is a two door luxury coupe, like this one:

It's more likley he misread supercharged because MB don't put that on there cars they put Kompressor like M-Spec has already said

It was the SL 65 V12 bi-Turbo. Evil looking car in the dark. It was black like the one that Jacks linked to as well.

Thanks for your help - probably one of the most expensive cars I've been so close to, aside from the JGTC racers (:

Oh, and it's not really that I missread anything. More likely the faulty information is because I'm old and my memory is failing me (:

That's cool. Oh, and don't forget you still owe me 20 bucks from that thing last week.

;)

There was a nice SL65 AMG parked at my school parking lot today. Pretty with the top down, sort of a bad idea though leaving an expensive convertible with the top down in a seagull infested area.

The badges on the side of the SL's say:

V8 KOMPRESSOR = SL55
V12 BITURBO = SL65
nothing = SL500
V12 = SL600

Same deal on the rest of them. "Kompressor" is German for supercharger.

The all-time classic is what the names mean. "CLK" stands for "short, quick coupe" while "CL" means "quick coupe." Meanwhile "SLK" stands for "short, quick sports car" and "SL" means "quick sports car." "CLS" means "quick coupe/sedan" and "ML" means "quick SUV." Believe it or not they do have meaning!

where did you dig up that information? :)

The Internet. The "L" might actually stand for "light" - now I can't remember. Still, it's better than Acura, although "TL" stands for "touring luxury," "CL" for "coupe luxury" and, unbelievably, "RL" for "real luxury." Lexus did the same thing - "LS"400 was "luxury sedan", "SC"300 was "sports car" and "ES"250 was "entry sedan."
