I dont know if others have noticed but there are varying amounts of grip on different tracks.
For example,i raced a Honda S2000 with 280bhp on sport medium tyres around cape ring. With traction control set at 5 it was pretty easy to spin up the rear tyres coming out of some tighter turns.
Same car,HP and tyres but with traction control set lower,to 3,i raced around Suzuka and found there was more grip and the car was not so prone to lose traction.
Dont know if this is programmed into the game on purpose but i thought it was pretty cool anyway.

It may be programmed that way, because they may be like that in real like (I don't really know, as I have never been to a race track).

I'm guessing racing is no different from Golf, Bowling, and American Football- different places can play way different due to the surface.

We were bouncing this idea around in my tire thread, but I don't think anyone came to any hard conclusions. Are you sure it wasn't a matter of track camber, banking, or some other influences?

Yes, there is varying grip, not only from track to track, but also from area to area. In Rome Circuit, the sections paved with cobblestones have sensibly less grip than normal (in real life grip would be even slightly lower, especially in wet conditions where it can be almost like driving on ice at times).
Another example, on one of the Nuerburgring driving challenges in wet conditions, the description states that under the rain, the normal driving line has much less grip than normal because the road has been made smooth over the years by car traffic (I haven't checked this personally though) and that the optimal driving line is thus slightly different than usual.

I noticed this the other day. I thought it was just my tires giving up grip but it seems that it was actually the surface of the road that made me lose grip.

I didn't know this before, thanks for the information!

I think Rome has a bit too much grip for the cobblestones on its' surface.

yeah i was doing the rome race today in a online racing leage and their is a coner where it transitions from paved to those stones yall where talking about and its kinda tricky and have noticed that tracks do have diffrent grip, i useto think it was cus of banking like in tsukaba, but have no idea wat it could be

Sections with banking have a lot less grip than flat pieces of road.
