Amp Into Another Amp?

Basically I need the first amp purely to control the volume with a wireless remote as the second amp has a wired one. Is this setup safe (nothing will overload)?

Audio Source -----> Amp 1
Amp 1 Headphone Socket ------> Amp 2
Amp 2 ------> Speakers

BTW it not possible to plug the second amps speakers into the first one. The second amp is more of a self contained PC subwoofer thing.

Appreciate the help,

Robin.

From the headphone jack, probably OK. But why? I'm guessing you don't have a separate subwoofer output on the first amp so you're rigging something up? But the volume adjustment will affect everything, not just the headphone jack, so that doesn't make sense.

Well I'm just experimenting with it at the moment.

On the first amp I do have a single RCA output labeled Subwoofer Out but I don't see how I could hook up the second amp to it. There are no other audio out ports other than the headphone jack.

I'm trying to get wireless volume control, that's all this is for. The first amp is purely there to let me use a remote and the second is there to run the speakers.

If I could get some infrared controlled motor and a rubber band to turn the knob I wouldn't need the first amp!

You say that the second amp is "more of a self contained PC subwoofer thing." Do you mean an actual powered subwoofer, or a set of PC speakers? The latter makes more sense than anything else I've come up with in your scenario.

So if you're trying to use a PC speaker set as your audio system's speakers, then yes, the headphone jack would probably be an OK place to feed the PC speaker system.

When I first read it I thought of a powered subwoofer, and was very confused about why you'd go to all that trouble to feed a subwoofer and control its volume. Feeding a PC speaker set makes more sense.

And the subwoofer out jack on the first amp would not work for that, as it's low-passed to only have the subwoofer frequencies. Even if you could feed it to the PC speakers, you'd only have the bottom end.

Yeah basically its PC speakers which I want to control with an amps volume remote to use from a far. The PC speakers and included sub do have thier own plug so its kind of powered but not technically an amp.

This is all just a temporary setup anyway, I'l try and get round to doing something at a later date.

Thanks for the help wfooshee.
