Since people are starting thread about drivers all over I thought I'd post a reflection I've had over Alonso this year. Everyone that follows the F1 threads on the forum knows that I consider him the best driver in the field and that apart from three years in his career (2005-2007) he has more or less worked miracles with cars that in many cases were dogs.
What he hasn't been though is very likable. He has, in truth, been a whining arrogant bastard.
I have noticed a very big change this year though. I cannot recall one instance where he actually has whined or complained about other racers and in his post race interviews he has always humbly recognized that the car is simply not good enough but that they are all working together on improving it to become competitive. He has throughout the year delivered more or less exactly 100% of the car's potential both in qualifying and in the actual race and after the event he has said that _we_ did our best.
It probably comes down to the fact that he has actually turned 30 this year and I can only hope that other drivers that are perceived as being arrogant whining bastards will mature in the same way .
