Well, i think i drove too hard on her  (supra)
anyway, i am into drifting as you know, and also i love to burn out with the frolnt brake. I did this for about 2 hours, drift and burn outs, then i come in back to the garage, 12 hp lost!!!! Unbelivable, my oil is clean, and i got more then 500 on it :P

You just learning about the HP life-cycle? All cars have a cycle their HP count goes thru. Most cases it's easy to track how they start out at such HP, then climb, then wear and settle at an HP count higher than original but lower than max. No biggie, The car's not any less good (at least, I don't think a few % point HP makes or breaks a car) just don't get attached to any car's max HP count.

One example: F/090/s. You win it at the SSW enduro, it has 690 HP. You use it break it in, achieves a max of 725. Use it for more than 400-500 miles, it wears down and settles at 711HP, from where it will stay, and drop only temporarily, when the oil gets old. When you change the oil, HP goes back to 711.

I'm not afraid to admit it!my AE86 Trueno (Shigeno Version) lost 7 HP after going 62 laps straight, trying to beat my RX-7 (FD)'s record on Seattle Circuit!and I FINALLY beat it on the 60th lap,but I FELT,repeat...FELT a loss in HP out of nowhere when it got to the 62nd lap ^_^!and when I went back to my garage, that's when I saw it go from 387 HP to 380 -_-....even after I changed the oil (three times!).it happened a lil after the 700 miles zone..so now,I have over 2100 miles on it and it hasn't lost any more HP since.now I'm gonna go sit in my corner and cry cause my baby lost 7 HP..*slowly walks over to his corner, then kneels down, crying* (lol)

P.S. my situation should be classified under something along the lines of,"You know you've raced too long with a car when..."

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

No problem - I love using my mod powers...

Again: the HP count will go no lower, permanently. only temporarily, when the oil gets old. Change it, and the HP will go back to its settled value. Even you put a 1000 miles on a car (that's the most I've put on any car so lemme not exaggerate) the HP won't keep dropping indefinitely.

Won't excessive redlining wear out oil too?

I don't believe so. At any rate, that's not documented anywhere; just one of those "I heard somebody say" things. I spent a lot of time driving my Mugen S2000 well above redline (it has one of the widest ranges between redline and rev limiter in the game) and it didn't seem to burn the oil.

Pretty much the only thing that wears out oil is putting more than 187 miles (300km I believe) on it between changes.

Oil wear is only measured in distance travelled. 187.4 miles and the oil light comes on. I would recommend changing oil before that though, because hp has already started to drop before the oil light has come on.

The Mugen S2000 is so much fun to drive. cooking past redline, all the way to 10,100rpm is orgasmic.

Here's what I have learned. It's basically engine wear it happens after a certain mileage. The drop is 2%.

If you bought the car the car's hp will peak out at after break in 185miles and then it'll lose 2% at 500miles. If you won the car the car will lose 2% at 315 miles. This will only happen once to your car BTW.

that makes sense. so after these mileges no more hp loss?

I drove 800km (dunno in miles) with my Mazda MX-5 (miata) and I'm sure it has lost more than 2%... Well, I'll test some more, post again later.

Awww...that sucks...I wanted to burn the hell out of an escudo so it would have like 500hp...something respectable. Oh well, I guess I'll have to hybrid something.

sorry illegal, but I got bored and I just thought I'd add up your 800 Kilometers on your miata deal, and I came up with 480 miles, hehe :D

P.S. by the way..I'm not this pissed from losin' 1 HP,but it was a surprise :thatsodd:

well..not to be rude or anything, but you don't know how I feel about my Trueno.I mean,I'm not puttin' that in a wrong way or anything, but it's the best car that I feel most comfortable driving.it's the one I know best about..so much that an unbelievable phenomenan (sorry if I spelt that wrong =P) occured.it had shocked me at first when I felt it,but it was the bond that I hold with my AE86 that made me feel that.it may have been my car's feelings, but my car's feelings are connected with mine.so what it feels..such as a loss in horsepower..I feel.I don't know how..it's difficult to describe...it just came to me and I just knew it.it's just a feeling that someone like you may not understand yet.sorry if I offended you in any way,but I was just trying to explain to you what happened..hopefully you'll understand, thank you.
