An error occurred in the lobby server 293

Anyone else getting this?

I finally got online after some advice from GTPlanet members -- I used a DMZ from my Linksys router and bam, now all online features work except lobbies/lounge. It never ends!

So, it connects to the main servers quickly but when I try to go into lobbies all I get is that error 293.

I went into the In-Game manual, which says to enable upnp, which I did, but the PS3 is not detecting it, so I forwarded the ports it mentioned, which were

TCP: 80, 443, 5223
UDP: 3478, 3479, 3658, 5658

I made sure these ports were forwarded to the IP address i was using for my DMZ.

Is there something I am doing wrong? Come on guys, you helped me last night, just one more time!

Yes, I manual changed it last night.
Here are my settings

IP Address: ***.1.7.158 (DMZ Address)
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Default Router ***.1.7.18 (Does not work if I use DMZ address for this)
Primary DNS ***.1.7.18 (Does not work if I use DMZ address for this)
Secondary DNS 0.0.0.0

Is this wrong?

Oh and btw if I just use auto settings for internet, which always worked before (for all other games), GT5 online does not work PERIOD.

Welcome to :gtplanet: Bearcut.

Just a word of advice, try not to double/triple post without a reply.

When does this error happen? As you try to join a game/create a game? Or does it happen when it is searching for networks to join to?

The DNS server is an external thing and shouldn't need to match your 'internal' settings.

The DMZ shouldn't strictly be necessary to avoid NAT issues, try UNSETTING it and then see if uPnP will work.

Here's how my own network is set up

XBOX 1: Static IP, 192.168.0.250
XBOX 2: Static IP, 192.168.0.251
PS3 : Static IP, 192.168.0.252

The required XBL-only ports are forwarded to XBox 1 (my XBox :D )
The required PS3-only ports are forwarded to PS3
Shared ports are left unspecified.

IMPORTANT: There's something on your router called DHCP, this will automatically assign a network address to any authorised device that asks for one. Your STATIC IP addresses shouldn't be within that range.

The DHCP on my router is set in the range 5-240 (so it will give out 192.168.0.5~240). Make sure that your PS3's static IP isn't being given out as an 'auto' address to another device on your network.

Hope some of this helps... network setup can be a nightmare :(

Update: Thanks to TenEightyOne, i am now able to connect to GT5 without DMZ (phew... thank you)

Lobbies still not working.
Double checking open ports.

Does anyone have any news from PD/Sony that a patch for this is coming? I know some of you guys follow KYs twitter account, I would like to hear that a fix is incoming but so far it's just silence.

They still don't work for me : /

Sorry for the VERY late response, but I'm just having the same problem now (Feb. 2 2011). I got the 293 error twice in a row trying to log in and then it was just blank in the open lobby...no errors...no rooms...and I couldn't create a new room either. I'm guessing that the server went down. I still have the internet on my other computers that are connected to the same router, so it's not that I lost the internet, it's that the GT5 lobby is down. I was in the middle of a race when I got the message for the first time, so I know it's not my settings...it's external. I think I just need to wait for it to come back, and I'm pretty sure that if you have been racing online prior to the error, you should leave your settings where they were.
