So one month after it's release and we are all more or less close to complete the A+B spec, special events and licenses.

The online events by PD can be cool but how frequently will we get fresh stuff??

Online racing is very cool between friends, but usually not so cool with strangers if your friends are not available etc.

So what's left?? An event editor (which must be super-simple to create) would greatly extend this game's life.

Personally I think most events in A+B spec are poorly designed and pretty sure most of us would be able to create much better, more interesting and more competitive events / championships etc.

I can't believe this game has been out for such a short time and the game is almost being beat by some. I like that that I don't have as much time as some others because I want this feeling of GT to last a little longer than this.

agreed 👍 but an event generator with adjustable ai would be great imo

I've thought this ever since GT3 or so.

What would make it even better in 5 is the online aspect. You could design series with car, power, weight etc restrictions, pick your tracks and then upload them to the server for others to play. As you say, effectively permanently exptending the life of the game.

There are two problems with this idea:
1) How hard the races are. It's fairly evident that, as you progress through the game, the AI cars are drive faster, brake later etc. So I guess there'd need to be a slifing scale of how hard the AI tries to win.
2) What rewards are given. There would need to be a fialry complicated algorithm deciding how much in the way XP and credits for winning /competing. Otherwise, it'd be too easy to do an unrestricted racxe,w ith a field on AI, unmodded Yariss's's'ses with a reward of elevnty billion XP, a squilion credits and a pink Vitz prize car.

Well, I'm myself amazed that people are ending the game 1 MONTH AFTER ITS RELEASE, it only means two things:
1. You all have no work/school/social life xD
2. GT5 isn't as long as it used to.

So yeah, I agree completely with OP. Although I still have a load of events to do myself...

Bringing back the Event Generator from GT2 would be the easiest option for PD. Maybe.

For those not in the know, it pretty much automaticly chose the cars that most closely matched the car and tune you were currently in and also chose the tracks completely at random. My fave Event Generator was the championship one - had lots of awesome races in that. :)

100% AGREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
I think about this since GT2. I would LOVE an event generator! As you say, this would keep the interest for the game for several years after launch. But not a random thing, like GT2. A generator like the online one, but offline. You can choose the tracks, number of laps, and set what cars and what level of tuning is possible to use. And, setting the License required to run on the event, you set the AI level...
Its perfect! Congrats for bring this on!

I've been saying since GT4 that this was needed.

Let the player choose the track, # of laps, and opponent cars. How easy is that?

It could be a reward for reaching level 25-30, since that's where most people seem to stall. Have it pay out XP and prize money like a normal extreme event. Boom, infinite replay value for GT5.

It does surprise me that given the massive number of cars and tracks in GT there aren't more built-in events. After all, you'd have thought the hard part would be modelling the cars and tracks and once that is done creating events would be relatively trivial. The recent Seasonal Events PD have added does mitigate this to some extent, but we will have to see how often they change and how long they are supported for.

In lieu of this an Event Editor would be cool. What would be even better is if people could create their own events and then upload them to a central server for other people to play (either online or in GT-Life) complete with online rankings. Imagine all the cool possibilities that the community could come up with? This would give the game an almost infinite lifespan without PD needing to anything!

The current seasonal events run until the 6th Jan. It says at the bottom of each event.

I think that if an A-Spec event editor is created it should also be replicated online so that we can set up a race series with points for our lobbies. Similar to the one in F1 2010.

Yeah, maybe have it a little more tweakable though - like being able to pick the tracks. The idea of basing it around the car you're entering would work - you could pick 2-3 cars for the AI and then the game could fill out the field with similar cars. Or pick a "category" of AI car and it'd limit what you could enter with to the same category?

+1
Sorry but I am nowhere near finishing this, I have a life, a job, a wife and also need to take out the trash:)

we already have a course creator, why not tack on an event generator, it would infinitely boost the replay value. Sadly i think these seasonal events are PD's compromise.

I don't much care for any online stuff, so a big +1 for an event editor. An event editor would make this game last forever.

My main problem with the game is that I can't race with the cars I want to drive because there are no suitable events. I was thinking about an event generator, like we had in GT3 or GT2 or something, but, of course, an editor is much better than a generator. The one make events currently in the practice mode just will not do. You win nothing, and the competition is too easy.

I would love to see such an additional to GT5. Also it would be nice to create an online racing series for you and your friends to compete in.

I wrote about this before it's release. I'm sick of A spec already.

To an extent you have this aleady in the shape of Arcade races (not tried them yet) but of course there are no rewards that are of use to GT Mode. Maybe some fine tuning on this (more options perhaps) and rewards of Credits and Experience would do the job and probably be simpler to do.

You know what's the funny part?

I would imagine that an event editor could be created/programmed in a day. It's just ticking options, choosing tracks, no. of laps, restricting cars/hp which are ALREADY in the game. Nothing new stuff....

The track editor on the other hand probably took them some considerable time to create.

and what would you choose of the two??? I'd take the event editor without 2nd thought easily...

Race pro's arcade mode can be set to how many races, pick your selection and order of tracks. Number of laps, qualifying and practise to set up cars.

Once selected your in a championship against 16 named AI. With points carried over till the final race.

PD could do it easy.

Event Generator + Adjustable AI would make this game incredible. Especially if you could upload and share your events, basically we could make our own Seasonal Events. Based on the parameters used to generate the race (tire limits, number of laps, etc) the XP and credits would be generated automatically.

A structured event generator is a great idea!

However ...

We can sorta do this already though, right? If you go to Arcade mode, you can pick a track, and the game will pick equivalent AI to the car you are using? Doesn't help the GT Life grind of course.

Also with online, you can pick tracks and cars with friends ... We could set up online leagues, endurance races, etc. There are countless possibilities!

You can also always re-do the A/B spec events with different cars to change it up a little in offline mode.

We'll see the frequency of the seasonal events, but if they are monthly, then that will keep the interest level higher.

I'm not trying to pee on the parade, but use your imaginations if the game is getting a little stale for you. :)

But I do agree that an event generator with HP restrictions, AI adjustments, etc. would be cool. :sly:

Why stop at an Event Editor?

You could have a Hall Editor with 9 Events in it or you could have a GT-Mode Editor - Name your Halls, fill them with Events, set the rules and upload for everyone else to use.

I've wanted this back from the GT3 days, so right on.
