An explanation of why online is so bad please?

Too much to ask for?

Is there an explanation anywhere, official or otherwise about why and how this game is so difficult and time consuming to get connected and stay connected online?

Not talking about the usual check your router and all that. I've done it and it's made no difference, that's not the problem, I'm talking about a technical explanation. There is a fundamental problem that PD or Sony need to address. Maybe they have really given up till PS4?

I'm talking about a technical explanation.

It's Peer-to-Peer.

It doesn't matter how good or stable your connection is if the other guys you're playing with have crap ones and are on the other side of the planet. Or if your ISP - or the other guys' ISPs - uses traffic management technologies like packet shaping.

The only things directly in your control are to make your connection as stable as you can (wired, static IP, DMZ) and chose an ISP who won't fanny about with your bandwidth and latency as they see fit. Everything else depends on who you play with.
