Since it's tougher than tough, and to help people out,

Why don't they cut the track in 10 (or even 3), so you have to race a portion and the total time is added at the end. It would be similar to the licences, SV1, SV2... SV10. That way, you could concentrate on a certain section of the track.

I already know that the fan boys will say that it's stupid and those who already bronzed', silvered' or golded' it will say "NEVER" but those who are casual would find it easier to deal with parts of it while making progress instead of giving up after 4-5 tries...

It's a nice idea, but I think they should leave it as is. Instead get rid of the stupid disqualification system. The car is too wild to control when using a DS3 and the slightest twitch sends you spearing off across the grass. This hardly makes these events enjoyable, so at the end of the day most people won't waste their time trying.

Also they should lower the lvl to 25 to get to the vettel challenge.. 30 is too high for casual players..

Casual players are just that, casual. The Vettel challenge is very clearly a hardcore test. I've used the same analogy before and I'll use it now, a casual FPS player won't clear a CoD on the highest difficulty level because it's too hard but the hardcore players will. I don't see any reason why everybody should be able to win everything in Gran Turismo - if something is too hard either practice more or admit you can't do it.

Personally I don't look down on anybody who fails to complete the test, stares at the screen and thinks "this is too :censored:ing hard, perhaps I'll get it some day though and if I don't then that's it" but I'm seriously considering doing it every time I see one of the "this takes some actual skill, I can't do it, it's too hard for me so make it easier" posts.

^^^Good point Greycap. I know I will probably never be able to gold that challenge, unless (maybe) I buy a wheel. It really bothers me that I will probably never have the game 100% completed, however I agree that there should be some things that are 'hardcore', and I don't think they should make it easier just because I can't do it (yet).

You took the words right out of my mouth.

I agree. They really should let players continue to get a feel for the track when the beast car goes off road. "Double Hardcore" players shouldn't be opposed to this because they know that if you go off road you're already insanely behind the target you were going for.

P.S. If the challenge was 1 lap only (or "sections," ugggh) I would have had gold on all 3 events with the DS3 a looooong time ago (still working on Suzuka). The reason the event is so hard is because your reflexes are tested to the extreme, twice!

I've Golded the event already, but making it easier will take away the sense of satisfaction that other players could have.
Keep it as it is, making it easier will make the people that did it the hard way even happier with themselves and the people who did it the easy way won't be able to have the same amount of "HURRAY!" as the people who did it the hard way.

Also, they could simply invalidate the laptime if you go off road but let you keep going. Kind of like a time trial. Though I don't know how that'll work since its 2 hot laps and not really a time trail.

The fact that I couldn't practice was what irritated me, once I got bronze I took the car to the tracks in practice and got it pretty quick then went back.

Fair point, but I have only completed played one CoD (the WaW one) and I completed it on the hardest level.

What they need to do is cut some slack to DS3 users. GT4 M34 was very hard but achievable, Vettel all gold - probably impossible even to seasoned GT players who use controllers, plus Vettel is not GT it is Wipeout - in my opinion the very existence of the X1 undermines the GT name.

As a casual player, I've never tried the challenge because I'm pretty sure I wouldn't stand a chance. I use the DS3 and I'll never buy a wheel. I don't want to devote the few opportunities I get to actually play the game to a challenge that will frustrate me. :)

So far I have only bronzed at Monza.

For the time being I have set aside the other two challenges as the car is freakishly quick and such a handful, even with my wheel; still trying to figure out best settings of assists to try and bronze the other two.

I have no interest in driving that rocket online or in A-Spec; or arcade even :yuck:

+ 1000 👍

That and the fact that I having something that not every12 year old can gold which shows you have a little more skill than the average player.

I understand how you feel I'm at 99% and have silvered all Vettle challenges with the DS3 and Gold seems out of reach. Spending 200+ dlls in a wheel at this point is pretty much out of the question since I probably won't play the game for a while. I have officially become a casual gamer since reaching Lv 40 A-spec, I don't think I will even do 24hr Nurburgring in a long time.

Being lv29(.5) I've no experience with the RB yet but looking forward to it. Is it worth learning the tracks in the FGT as this is surely the closest thing to the X.?

Not really, the X2010 doesn't drive like anything else in the game. Just open the challenge and practice that lots :)

Although I golded all three, I believe they should do this challenge easier overall, it still would be hardcore enough.

At least they didn't do 1 lap battle at Nurburgring 24h or ask you to do 60 lap GP race in Monaco against 15 other X1 cars or even 24h endurance races.

The event could have easily been much harder, it could have been easier. So people shouldn't complain really, I mean it is only 2 laps. Anyone with a wheel should be able to gold with 10000s of hours of practice.

+ another one for leaving it as is.

I've not yet been able to complete even one full lap at a speed that comes anywhere close to keeping up, but to my mind that's as it should be. If my skills improve to a point where I can score a trophy it will be a great day... but if it doesn't happen that's OK too because the challenge is one of the main points of the game.

imo... if it was easy there would be no point in doing the game in the first place.

I'm for leave as is except let you practice with the car somehow. It's like they're trying to tell you the only way to practice for this final exam is to take the final exam and fail horribly lol. PD those guys are so funny and sadistic.

+1

Very good post! I have all silver (except for gold @ Monza) and i don't think that this is for everyone. It is something extra for the most hardcore fans/drivers. If they make it easier, it would take away something from the ones who did it the hard way.

I agree with this; let me practice 👍

Also, how realistic is it to race out of the pits on cold tires and immediatley have to scorch around the track on your out lap-I don't see any tire warmers in the pit lane

How about a real qualifying lap without that countdown clock and START notice :irked:
