An idea to get the missing Japanese version cars

I understand that the Japanese version had 4 extra F1 cars, a Diablo, and a 911 and Stratos in road and rally forms. What I was thinking was, if I get the Japanese version off eBay or somewhere -would this play on my UK PS3 - then I would have ALL the cars (albeit on two discs/saves) Better still are those cars available in the US version (to play on UK PS3 that is)
 
With a little skill, You can get those cars and more with the US version.
 
A gameshark or similar tool is all you need to get them on the NTSC-U/C version. That probably won't work on a PS3, though, unless you run the cheat on a PS2, save the game to a memory card, and use that memory card on the PS3 (with that adapter or whatever).
