Analog light stays on

I recently got the PS2 console and GT3 game and noticed the light for the analog/digital button stays on no matter how much I press the button to try to turn it off on the controller. I wish to steer with the buttons and not the toggles just like I did with my PS1/GT2 setup. I have played with the settings and tried everything I know of but it still wont go out. Any ideas anyone?

Thanks,
Bindi

You can't turn it off, I think it's also to notify that the analog buttons on the controller are also functioning.

Why do you need it turn off? Is it annoying you? Put a piece of tape over it.

Some games give you the option to turn off the light, by allowing only the digital controls to operate, but GT3 doesn't let you.

Its not the light that bugs me, I just want to be able to steer with the buttons and not the toggles.

As long as the settings say you're steering with the D-pad buttons, no matter what the analogue light does or doesn't do, you're steering with the D-pad buttons.

I know. I DO steer with the D-pad buttons.

Check your controller setup in the game. You should be able to use your D-pads from the start.

I prefer the D-pads over the analog stick, as well. A lot of people do.

I can use either, I switch mid race sometimes. It's set for the stick but the pad still works, also every button expt the start, analouge on/off and the select buttons are analoug including the d pad.

OK thanks, let me mess with the settings again and see where I get. I'll get to the bottom of this yet.:D

If you set it so the left stick moved left and right will steer the car left and right respectivley, you should be able to use the stick and the d-pad.

The stupid sticks AND the pad both work at ALL times

I've never changed my controller settings since I got the game 2 years ago, so I couldn't remeber.

OK I finally sorted it out. I had bought a used memory card and whoever had it before obviously had GT3 and had their own settings saved for toggles. On the plus side, and this is a HUGE plus...the card also had all licences and 25 heavily modified cars woth over 11,000,000. This is a big coincidence but on the other hand takes away from the opportunity to earn it all for myself. Nothing stopping me from doing it all myself on a different card though. Thanks to all who posted assistance.
